Well, all right then, pilgrim. Just as background I became somewhat disenchanted with the direction of "popular" music by about 1974 and stopped buying new stuff and just sat at home listening to my records for about a decade - hence I wasn't real…

This gambit to become the most prolific poster is becoming a little thin.

I'm on a "listening tour" myself - an unintended consequence of which has been my being so smitten with some material that I went and got more - but my intentions were good.

Braving the shower of the golden eMu, I just blew my monthly refresh in advance of the coming apocalypse. I figure it's worth more today than it will be afterwards - not that it went that far, cleaning out some SFL items, plenty more still in purga…

I think I recall some talk about Chet Atkins here once so I thought I'd post this find - this 5 CD set cheaper by far than you could download the respective discs at eMu these days - in Amazon Daily mp3 Download Deals Comment by BigD-Bluez November 2010

This is definitely something to look out for at Amazon - I think it was the Chess boxes (Muddy, Wolf, etc.) I noticed this being the case the other day. Browsing off that Motown link above - left hand mid-page "Discover The Soundt… -
That Amazon Verve page is bad news, man - a major road to temptation and debauchery. I got about 20 Verve releases during the 7digital $2 Xmas extravaganza last year, so I might just wait to see if any such madness is repeated this year before I st…

Just poking around the official Universal Music Group site, Labels page - there's a Verve subsection. If you click on the show Verve section of that, the new page has an Archive section which looks to be worth investigating - found a release I'm hu…

Since I brought them up at the start of this thread I just want to say - The Kinks f**king rule!! Just needed to get that out of my system since I've been listening to my personal favorite Kinks comps - saw Pirate Radio a couple of weeks ago - and …

I haven't bought a CD at Best Buy in several years, their selection of obscure old fart music being so limited, except for 2 of the Beatles re-masters the week they came out while I was hunting for crack cards. I really miss being able to wander t…

In the midst of all this peace and love I must confess that #8 seems a little bit harsh on my part, but at the time it was heartfelt and sincere. I've mellowed since.

2 disc worth of live Black Label Society Berserkus tour for $0.69, yes $0.69. Weird, but I'll go for that. And I confess, I had a moment of weakness for the $1.99 opus 99 Essential Christmas Masterpieces - hours of holiday music to do all those ho…

Well, it looks like Doofy gets the Karnak Award for this thread. No, there isn't a prize, sorry, just the admiration of fellow musers.
-
Thanks for posting that review, Doofy, I saw this offering in passing this AM but was too hurried to really contemplate, and would probably have forgotten. Now there's a chance I'll remember tonight.

I saw Sun Ra once at the Bandshell in Central Park, and between him and the whole orchestra they were without a doubt the most interesting ensemble I ever laid eyes on. Very entertaining.

Aha! The Coming Soon listing has changed, with all sorts of groovy huge stars, or not. Are you ready for the date? November. I'm still shooting spitballs at the wall calender by my desk and averaging out the results.
-
They have the sales as "through the 9th" so I'm also feeling like the 10th might be it. Is this like The Dead Pool or what? Welcome to the jungle.

Where's that sense of hipster ennui gone?

Not on topic, but FWIW, just wanted to register my experience with 7digital CS recently. Last Wednesday creeping into early Thursday I DL'd two live UFO EPs, and with one of them 2 of the 3 tracks froze each time I attempted download until My Locke…

Trick Or Treat! Logged in to find all my channels gone except Demo so that hopefully means new listings - and credits - will appear later today or tomorrow. Happy Halloween.

I look at it this way - I have no control over the river. My only concern is what I can buy on the river. I have too many worthy things on my oversized SFL raft, which I am trying to winnow down, to get off the river yet. It remains to be seen ho…

Some of those titles were in the Xmas sale last year - here's hoping. Has anyone else used their Mac version Download Manager? While faster than zipfile it is rather sloooooowwww I found. Just curious r.e. other's experiences.

With a trickle of Guvera gas in the tank just picked up the 3 above mentioned tracks - 36:44 for 3 credits, free, thank you Guvera.

Wasn't there some some 50's horror movie about a giant alien eye monster that lived in a cloud on top of a mountain?
Edit - It was called The Crawling Eye (1958). -
Congratulations, Craig. No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith, dude, but worth every minute.
-
Creepy, and a little too Orwellian for my humble tastes. Stuff like this is why I still pay for most things in cash, but with digital downloads I'm trapped in their corporate crosshairs.
-
esnoozers? All that other place is currently good for is making my eyelids verrrrrrrrrrry heavvvvvvvvy. I'm jonesing on Guvera crack. I'm going to have to curl up under a rock and hibernate soon.

It has occurred to me that not necessarily all music available on a label/group is necessarily available as a download - more salient examples AC/DC or Ozzy-era Black Sabbath - so we must accept this next "upgrade" without knowing precisely what we …

Well I'm making a list, checking it twice,
Just in case Santa drops something nice.....
Meaning I have started researching and compiling a list of potential boxes just in case there arise initial screw-ups to capitol-ize upon next … -
Working normally for me. Not that it's doing my credit-less self any good at this time. I have experienced occasional squirreliness with their site, that has always cleared up later in the day.
