This is one of my favorite Coltrane albums, but be warned, this is full on, fire breathing, 1967 vintage, avant-garde 'Trane. It's a series of duets between 'Trane and drummer Rashieed Ali that was recorded in the flurry of activity prior to 'Trane's death that year. Wasn't released until '73, IIRC. Kind of a more obscure recording, but if you enjoyed any of the live recordings where 'Trane and Elvin go off and do their thing, you'll definitely need to hear this.

    This is my favorite late period Coltrane album. I actually find it more accessible in many ways than most late-period Coltrane. In any case, the playing is superb, and this is a great find at that price.
