I'm done

edited July 2009 in General
I've decided that I'm done with the eMu boards. I'm bored with the drivel going on and just want to purge myself of that annoyance. So anything that I feel would be useful to eMu members will be posted over here instead. I'm actually going back and deleting some of my messages over there, too. Because purging is also about being petty...

thom, it was actually your thread about the "album-only" tracks that made me aware that they existed, which led me to decide to cancel my eMu sub ASAP rather than wait for the August free booster packs. So thank you for that.
  • Yes, it has been pretty inane over there today. I have been busy trying to find albums I think are worth downloading. I'm downloading only things I really want right now, and only when the required credits are equal to or less than the number of tracks. Sony? Maybe later, but I already have what I have really, really wanted on CD. I'm trying to keep my attention on classical.

One thing of note: Wanderer, the voice of the new eMusic. If that doesn't make you want to stay away, I don't know what does.
  • Me three...or four...or five...or whatever. I was always more of a lurker than a poster, but holy shit things have gotten out of control over there. Pf course, the way things are headed at eMusic, I really don't see myself needing to make many more posts like I have in the past (primarily of the "Hey! This lable is here!" or "Check out this album" variety.)
  • {sigh}

I got another year and 11 months of that crap over there to put up with. I have no intention of posting on that board any more - I just lurk for the recs but it's really wearing out my scroll wheel to get to them.

Oh well... I think my SFL is probably long enough to last me to the end without having to add any more recs but for some odd reason my taste in music has abruptly changed within the past couple weeks.

I seem to have developed a fondness for albums with few tracks that haven't been capped yet. It's a pretty eclectic mix of avante-garde, ambient and classical so far. But at the same time, I'm also drawn to albums with a lot of tracks that have been capped. Funny how tastes change over time. Especially when your reward/incentive equation has been dramatically fucked with...
  • I was definitely more of a lurker on eMu boards too, though I loved being able to ask about random bands and at least one person would respond. I hope we can do that on here. :)
  • For those that will still be using eMusic (I'm there until at least January, my last refresh) I think this board here could become more useful for recs. I think I'll start posting my monthly downloads here and any comments I find appropriate.

And while I don't want this to turn into another Wanderer thread (because there's more than one jackass at this point), his insistence on becoming "the voice" of eMusic by posting in every thread he can was one of the final 2 nails for me.
  • Why not start a July downloads thread?

JUJ's Simon Said thread is a thread for recs of all sorts. In case you haven't noticed, he made you the King for July.
  • I'm honored, but since it caught me off guard I'm still writing my acceptance speech...

Hey, does this board have smilies? ;)
  • Argh! They keep sucking me back in. I've got to stop scanning those threads. Eventually I see someone talking about "stealing" music and it irks me too much to ignore. IT'S CALLED COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, DAMMIT!
  • lol! ray23 outed you craig!

remind me to never infringe upon your twins baseball card collection!
  • He did in a way. He emailed me with that question, and I could have remained anonymous by simply replying to him and letting him post what I said, but I have no problem being outed for that.

I do my best to be a good attorney, and the last couple of days I've had a string of good results so I'm a little happier with my profession than I am on some other days. :)
