Like last time it appears that if you click through there are some other $4 albums not listed on the first page.

  • Looking closer, there aren't a lot not on the first page, and most on the first page are...ummm...not for me, so I'm not sure how good this sale will be.

  • Blue Baby Schlong is on sale again, as is Eviscerated Mother Angel....
  • Anybody find anything yet that isn't listed on that sale page? Last time there were thousands of albums on sale. I got thre whole Rolling Stones discography. This time, there are 2 or 3 on sale. There was a ton of Jazz last time. Nada this time....
  • It's not really part of the sale but I found two Anthony Braxton 4-CD sets: 20 Standards and 23 Standards for $7.77. Also, something called Document: New Music From Russia which is an interesting looking set of 8 CDs also for $7.77.
  • In that vein, both the Peter Seeger and Woody Guthrie Smithsonian Folkways box sets are $7.77. Great value - plus you can get the booklets from their website.

As for the $4 sale. This one kinda blows. Not much beyond that page is involved. The Kanye West albums are funny though - either the explicit or the edited version is on sale for each.

Along the same vein, Storyville has some of their big boxes for $7.77 each. The Duke Box (9 hours, 155 tracks), The Blues Box (9 hours, 153 tracks), Art Tatum Live Recordings Volume 1 (6 hours, 102 tracks) and Volume 2 (6 hours, 110 tracks) are all there. I have never found the Ben Webster set which looks good too.

These are not the best recordings. Many live sets, including rado shows (with people talking over parts of the performances) in less then ideal environments. But still great musik at a amazing price (especially if you are already a fan).

If anyone finds the Ben Webster box for cheap, please link it here. Thanks.

Edit: Lead Belly's Last Sessions (96 tracks, 4+ hours) by Smithsonian Folkaways is also there for $7.77
  • Thanks. I'm going in for the Lead Belly. I've also spent part of the day listening (on Lala) to the Document: New Music From Russia set, and like it a lot. It's some free jazz, but not a blow-fest. Lots of different styles in it. Not just jazz.
  • More stuff is getting marked down. All Rolling Stones and all U@ (including deluxe editions) are $4 (The Stones 4CD Singles Collection is listed at $4 but comes up $38 unfortunately). Still seems to be mostly pop/top 40 stuff (artists listed on the main sale page). But I did trip over John Coltrane's Interstellar Space and a BB King best of at $4, so it may be worth doing a little more digging...
  • Wow, thanks for the pointer to the U2. 20 bucks to get the deluxe versions of their 80s catalog? Might not be able to pass that up.

If you're looking for some good jazz deals, make sure to check this thread. Checking Lala, it appears their $2.99 prices are still on.
  • I bought that Storyville Duke box; haven't gotten through the whole thing yet but what I've heard I've really liked; some of the recordings are really not bad for the time period, but I am a scratchy recording fan so take with a grain of salt.
  • Sale already done. That was fast...
  • Yeah, their sales are rather weird. Kinda glad I never got around to buying the U@. Good deal, but I wouldn't be listening to it anytime soon.
  • Nothing special, this sale. Buzz me when there's another sitewide $2.00/disc sale.
