also welcome is talk about at least one other pro team, who are about to make a deeeeeeep playoff run
another good single from the bandcamp site: wild belle's keep you. (she coos, "Tell me what the problem is / Little Man." Ouch).preliminary view, but i dig this o sister! sound. if they put a little more bite in it -- maybe explore the noir-ish, mobster vibe that i think underlies (or, at least, could underlie) this type of music -- it could be a very cool retro soun…(Quote)
O RLY?so, to pick up on something we discussed earlier on this thread, it appears that bandcamp's staff have a twitter page where they recommend favorites. not really digging the first few r…(Quote)
my vote is to slam a sharp pencil deep into their ears. but destroying with laser beams is okay, too. as long as it's done.(Quote)
uhhhhh . . . i think you're forgetting another CLASSIC american music release of the decade. egregious o…(Quote)
right. that's my point. you may stumble into a recommendation about an obscure bandcamp title, but otherwise, it's hard to pinpoint what's worthwhile. i'd actually welcome an ongoing blog devoted solely to analyzing bandcamp title…(Quote)
ah! is musicisgood a blog focused on under-publicized bandcamp items? i've read the blog, but hadn't put two-and-two together, apparently. a "bandcamp-centric blog" would be a pretty cool idea, btw.(Quote)
wait, where is this network of blogs and forums focusing on items released on the bandcamp service? i was going to say that what distinguishes emusic is the amazing editorial content, but honestly i haven't seen any of these bandc…(Quote)
spotify's problem (well, one of them) is that it herds the audience toward pop music or "buzz bands." unlike being dropped into a warehouse with healthy supplies of great and bad music, spotify is like being dropped into an uber wa…^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ me, too (re: bowie's low).

it's not really, tho. i mean, yes, it has a lot of albums -- a lot of albums. but there's so much, and so little guidance helping to separate the wheat from the chaff,…i kinda unreservedly love the raveonettes. still get a charge out that noise/pop hybrid.
loving the hell out of this new lotus plaza album. and it has a song called dusty rhodes! whether it's about the 80s wrestler i have no idea…
really digging this. it's a woozy, electro, almost "hautological" take on country, which actually is an intriguing cross-genre pollination.i'll belatedly mention that gavin bryars' the sinking of the titanic is a brilliant long piece, especially the most recent version (with philip jeck and alter ego).
if you haven't heard it, you should. perfect listening on a long …in the end, freedom turned out to be the most affecting book i've read in . . . years, maybe. at least that's my feeling now that i've finished it. i feel somewhat devestated by it, to be honest, tho i realize that means i'm feeling too muc…
anyone else read/reading franzen's freedom. it's good, though it's taken me a long time to arrive at that conclusion. i kind of hate patty, the lead character. i think am's wife is right; franzen doesn't like his characters. that isn't an…(Quote)
i agree this is a good album! night swim, in particular, is kind of hypnotic and epic.honestly, instead of an auto recommendation engine, i'd rather emusic set up arrangements with a bunch of cool review sites (like those i string-cited above) and create pages with their reviews and links to the albums, or maybe just the albums that …you all have really found useful recommendations from emusic's engine -- or any auto-engine, for that matter? i don't think i've ever found even one. i'll get my recommendations from emusic's editorial staff, this forum, ILX, pitchfork, resi…the new, psychadelic, super-heavy richard hawley song, leave your body behind you. a stunner. can't wait for this album.it was the whole thing (i downloaded it the first day it arrived). it's a steal, at either price.
i actually prefer the last ep -- street halo -- which i thought was a stronger move toward a sunnier and dancier side. but this new…(Quote)
oh man, i saw a video of a kitten playing with a dolphin. a dolphin!
adorable. took my mind off this week's SCOTUS arguments.for me, it was hard because i picked it up after finishing marlon james' the book of night women, which had such a strong voice and perspective that it was hard pivoting to anything, much less a book with a contemporary, straightforward, and …
