amclark: yeah, those are valid points and legitimate possibilities. who knows? maybe adding the major labels was needed to prevent erosion of the subscriber base, or maybe it was just a poor decision. the credits v. cash thing is a valid point. …

i don't see why any of the changes make emusic more attractive as a potential target.
if emusic wants to be attractive to, say, itunes, it should just be a success at what it does. making itself more like itunes isn't going to endear it… -
lol, i just downloaded this from emusic! ah, well. i have so many problems with other download sites that i'm not too upset.
-
yeah, it's possible. that would be sad. i can't see amazon.com buying emusic. a subscription base doesn't seem to mesh with amazon.com's overall business model, which covers far more than digital-music, and is all a la carte. itunes makes more s…

i mean, this is certainly a possible motive, but it isn't the only one. apologies if i'm repeating myself here, but if i had to speculate, i'd guess that the largest community willing to support an indie-focused subscription-based… -

i doubt that's so. watching a small angry mob pile-on everywhere on emusic isn't strong evidence that there's only a community united by hatred of the site. it's evidence that there's at least a small angry mob determined to floo… -
lol, not sure what to make of this.

today is such a clusterf--k on the boards, teeming with examples of the kind of attitude there these days. f---g ridiculous.

this is more true now, but it wasn't the case, say, a month ago. at that point, it was a small group determined to clog up everything on the boards, and interrupt other people's discussions, to force their agenda -- and only their… -

that's what i've done. one time recently i said something about it, which ended with a "time is up!," "emusic must be taught a lesson!"-type response. beyond that, i've ignored it, and actually for the most part withdrawn from th… -

i have no idea if this is true, but i doubt it.
my problem isn't so much wanting the boards to go back to being less divisive and more that i have a negative reaction to the tone of many of these complaints, which are c… -
steve fobert, romeo's tune, over and over and over. . .

i have no idea if that's their strategy; i rather doubt it, tbh. but whatever, at this point, i hope the negative posters go away. -

this might be a semi-full-time job over there these days. -
sounds interesting. i don't bounce back as quickly now (at 43, next month) as i used to, either. glad to hear they're getting you help. we've just hired another associate too. i don't think i use our associates especially well, but i'm learning …

sounds fascinating. i emphathize; when i need to write a long document, especially when i have writers-block, i wind up working round-the-clock for days.
is this a film or music or publication, if i may ask? (feel free to tell me to GT… -

elwood crankin' thru albums. kudos for the 2562 disc.
on a side note, i'm pleased to see what appears to be a dramatic increase in traffic on emusers. it comes at a good time, since i'm bummed about the state of the emusic message boar… -

low, things we lost in the firein What are you listening to right now? (part 3) Comment by Daniel, Esq. January 2011

admitting you have a problem is always the first step.

i do not deny it.

i, too, once liked three billy joel songs.

it's okay, craig. there are really good programs for this sort of thing, where you can work through your issue in a secure, supportive environment. -
my hard-drive is filled entirely with novelty songs and albums by american idol runner-ups.

i like the idea of using itunes lists -- either smart playlists or tagging in the comment section of an album -- as a means of keeping track.
i download so much at times that my purchases pass from the "newly downloaded" folder, where it… -

yeah, her death floored me. she's just my age (42).
broadcast's mini-albums with the focus group are odd and wonderful. -
i think the backlash is related to (a) some needlessly provocative interviews she gave before the disc was released (she had a cool political vibe to her lyrics, but as these interviews made clear, her "political thoughts," such as they are, are con…

my problem with it is that -- of the parts i've heard -- it's just good electo-sounding songs. nothing like the exciting world-beats of the first two discs. but it doesn't sound nearly as bad as people suggested when it was released (she was the v…
