yeah, it doesn't make sense. i'm guessing emusic wouldn't have added UMG if it knew that doing so would gut virtually every (maybe every) major-indie label from its roster. and why now, on the eve of a price increase? i just don't get it.

strangely, almost all my favorite lyrics this year are raunchy or dirty.

very cool. i started taking classical guitar maybe four years ago. i read better than i play, and my understanding of rhythm and tempo are subpar, at best. i'm now taking some rock guitar lessons (currently learning the C-movable scale and han…

i miss this thread. here's a picture i unearthed not too long ago. from 1990, me and a friend at the college debate nat'l championship.

whew! took me forever to reset my password.
so: not dead (quite) yet. -
the sale titles look pretty cut-rate.
-
true, but it can't be everything good is at the higher price-point.

this is encouraging, i think. -

i just posted basically the same point over on the emusic message boards, with a significant twist on your last thought.
so: good point. -
all these posts make me sad.
i hope all you dudes -- and dudettes -- stay or return. -
amclark2, fwiw, i hope you stay. if not at emusic, at least here.

very glad to hear it. -
well, it will definitely be bad if anything on the majors is 0.99. i can't imagine they'll do that.
i think what's much more likely to happen here is that, for most new-ish and very popular stuff, emusic will be moving to the old lala (… -

i have some of the same concerns, but i'm sorry to read this. -
i dig both sites. i need to spend more time here than i have been, tho.
-
tons of good new titles on emusic these past two weeks, i think.
-
So far, I like the old search function better.

totally. i do miss the one-to-one connection with a single album, but it's a new era. some things worse; other things better. -
itunes sucks. it's the blandest of big-box stores.

not by itself. but i've felt like amazon.com has a twofold strategy here in absorbing the losses on sale-items: (a) cut into itunes' market dominance and (b) squeeze out small niche players, like emusic. in a way, it's like a big… -

so so true, and can't be said enough. -
i like a lady gaga song! alejandro, i think.

in fact, i'm thinking of making a donation to the foundation.

BT: i hadn't seen your post. thanks for linking to it!
actually, given its mission statement, i want to pay for the music maker titles. these are some talented musicians, and it seems like a crime that they earn less than 18K a year. -
diggin' this music maker recordings label. it's where i spent my last few bonus downloads.
-
And I never did get Guitar Boy Superstar

not on emusic, AFAIK. i'll bet it's great, tho. i'd take the palenque disc over the cumbia disc, but maybe that's because -- of cumbia discs -- i heavily fav… -
doofy, i don't know that first pictured disc, but those other compliations are awesome.
-
that niney album is killer-diller.
a lot of good albums on this page. -
i wonder why the analog africa and soul-jazz catalogs are so spotty (on emusic and all other digital outlets). licensing issues, i guess.

yeah, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this re: lala. it was more a victim of its own success, it seems to me.
