Listening to some Arturo Sandoval...in honor of Ozzie "El Boca Grande" Guillen.

He actually looks a good bit less portly in the more recent photo. I guess getting a 25yo girlfriend will do that for an old dude, I mean, distinguished gentleman.

I found tons of albums through the old rec system. That is because I am always interested in old jazz, and one old jazz record inevitably leads to another.
I also have little use/patience for any rec system that's just going to spit out… -

A day I remember well...indeed, it was because I already had much of the Mingus that I went for in What are you listening to right now? (Part 8) Comment by Doofy April 2012 -
amclark, that looks awesome. There is so much Mingus out there, and you get to thinking you have all you could ever need, and then you see another one...
Meanwhile...finally completed this one at eMu, years after DL'ing a track reccomen… -

Bullpen blows lead, runner thrown out at home in the 9th...Yep, that's the Cubs all right! -
Yes, right, I can DL individual tracks. Was just wondering if there was any way of using their DL'er to DL only...! Not wanting to mess with it is certainly an inducement to buy from Amazon instead.

Listening now: Cubs opening day, that's what!

Craig, do you know, can you use the Google downloader just to download? I installed it (I think), but it looked like if I pressed one more button, it was going to start uploading my whole "music collection." (Or maybe you have uploaded your whole …

In re Jonah's comment about Powell's, I've noticed that one of the good independent bookstores in town has some kind of partnership to "sell" Google eBooks. However it works, th…

Paul Simon - "Kodachrome'
This isn't Paul Simon's greatest pop song...it's not even the greatest song on 'Here Comes Rhymin' Simon' - that would be in What is the perfect pop song? Comment by Doofy April 2012 -
Jonah, btw that sampler reminds me I saw that The Cookers (Billy Harper, Cecil McBee, et al) have have a new album coming out on Motema soon. Also happened to hear in emusers' standard lecture on good free stuff Comment by Doofy April 2012The music business has always been like this. Remember when CDs were going to get cheaper? And now with mp3s, the supply issue is completely taken out of the equation. Not that artists and even labels shouldn't get paid, but it is self-evident th…It is price-fixing. Can't think of anything else to say about that....Too, the social media stuff could work differently from the intro trials, which was the topic of the conversation I was thinking of.Do the artists/labels get paid for these, I wonder? I thought I remembered a discussion where not getting compensated for promos was part of the labels' problems with eMusic. The first one that came to mind for me was Total Control by The Motels. Might actually be more creepy than haunting...

About 3.5 hours to go on this...Kinda nice to have the Reccs back...They already pointed me to a Sam Rivers album I didn't know about. On the other hand, they also gave me a William Shatner rec, wtf?
...Also Adele and Amy Winehouse, who I guess I like just fine, as do…I think that is the same "special deal" price you can get on iTunes.Yes, I gather this was prompted by 'Mad Men' (which I haven't seen). But aren't The Who the ones who sold out for Heinz?
Yeah, what's up with that? Actually, I think it was a BItW retweet that led me to the sampler.
Btw, the Inner Circle sampler posted on the previous page is really nice...Listened to it twice through yesterday. It coheres as an album, w…
