Well, it would be if I didn't have 'em all already. That How The West Was Won set is pretty great, though.

I spend much more time on Amie Street than on eMusic these days. I maybe visit the eMu boards once or twice a week, used to be pretty much every day, and I almost never post there anymore. Amie still gets lots of stuff that interests me, and it's …

Everybody knows People Who Died, but I forgot how much I like the rest of this album. -

Worse for who? Given my schedule, I have virtually no shot at getting the new releases if they come out at or around midnight. Most of those I snag are mid-day releases when I just happen to check in from work. If the Tuesday re… -
Yeah, most of the times I've stayed up till midnight the better releases ended up dropping a couple of hours late, after I gave up. I prefer the morning myself. Makes it more of a crapshoot for everybody, but I'll take my chances.

GREAT choice, I'm gonna have to change my vote. I first came across this song on a Yellow Pills power pop compilation CD many years ago and haven't gotten it completely out of my head since. Eugene Edwards does a nice cover that … -

I can't remember whether I saw Fandango before I bought the Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays CD (As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls) that provided most of the soundtrack. I think I already had the CD and recognized the music, which bro… -

Of course, if they did that, they'd be undercutting themselves since their prices on Amie are generally the same as on Amazon, iTunes, etc. I can't imagine the other retailers would be too happy with that, especially since they un… -
There was a thread on the eMusic boards debating this very question a few months ago. I believe my choice was "When Will I See You Again" by the Three Degrees. Not the kind of thing I listen to very often, but it kills me every time I hear it. Of …

Yep. Not the way I planned it, but no complaints.

Our new TV is in the basement. It's huge, but it hangs on the wall instead of sticking out three feet like the RPTV did, so it has actually freed up a good bit of floor space. It also weighs about 115 lbs, while the last one was … -

Agreed. You can actually follow the puck in HD. I just replaced my 8-year old 52" Hitachi rear projection HDTV with a 63" Samsung plasma, and the difference is staggering. Watching the NFL playoffs last weekend was pretty good t… -
The box sets that were incorrectly priced and pulled are coming back this morning. Hint: if you started downloading a box last week that got pulled before you completed, check the listing, because it may show up as something you already purchased, …

They also still have the Rhino handmade Crazy Horse box (Scratchy: The Complete Reprise Recordings) for 12 credits. I downloaded it from Lala a while back and it's excellent. That first Crazy Horse album with Danny Whitten and Nils Lofgren is a cl…

Absolutely. I had resisted several offers to rejoin eMu since my sub ended in September, but when I saw the label drop yesterday and the box set deals, I jumped right back in. I may well quit again after using this month's downlo… -
I just checked eMusic and I was credited back the 12 DLs I lost for the Neil Young set I wasn't permitted to complete. That's all I asked for, and I think it's a reasonable resolution. Since the set was never supposed to be offered at that price, …

I got some of what I wanted from eMu before the box sets got pulled. I was downloading them at work because I had no confidence that these deals would still be available by the time I got home last night. Good call there. I got the Coltrane box, …

I'm just downloading the boxes I want now on my work computer, to make sure I get them before the prices change. I'll use one re-download later, after I get home, to add them to the rest of my music library. Pretty simple. Once … -
I've gotten that 75 free "please come back" offer every month since I quit in September. I just got another one for January, so I'll keep an eye on these developments.

I have three on each list. From eMusic's list, Cass McCombs and Kurt Vile, both of which I got free at Amie, and Andrew Bird, which I got on sale at Amazon. From Pitchfork's list, Neko Case (Amazon sale), Dinosaur Jr. (eMusic before my subscriptio…

From the $4 sale I got Them Crooked Vultures, Beck's Odelay (Deluxe) and the 40th anniversary edition of Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out (which is back up to full price, making me feel better about TCV and Beck dropping to $2).

Funny, because my taste generally goes the other way. I prefer straightforward to quirky every time. Give me verse/chorus/verse with a cool bridge and some killer hooks, and I'm happy. That's why I love power pop and hate Animal… -
I'll vouch for TCV. I saw them live in October and it was a blast. Grohl's drumming in particular made a big impression on me, he was amazing. JPJ is also one of my favorite bass players in the world, and I probably would have bought the ticket t…

There's a great book along those lines called "This is Your Brain on Music" by Daniel Levitan. Much of the technical discussion about what happens in your brain when it's stimulated in different ways was lost on me, but still a very interesting rea…
