I tried this morning to download the Foo Fighters "Wasting Light" and it streams fine but I get an error message (media not found) when I try to DL.

Katrina, I saw Springsteen in Philly on the River tour in the summer of 1981. It was probably the fourth or fifth concert I'd ever seen, and it's still in my top ten. I've seen him a bunch of times since then, and have enjoyed them all but that wa…

That is a ridiculous deal on Squeezing Out Sparks. If I didn't already own it....

Nice review. That sounds awesome.

Yup. -
Lowery's article was really good. I grew up buying albums, then CDs, and now downloads, so the idea of paying for music seems eminently reasonable to me. My music collection has grown exponentially the past few years, largely as a result of legal …

Wow. That is awesome. I only saw Prince once, at the Omni in Atlanta a LONG time ago when a friend offered me a ticket the day of the show, and it's still in my top ten. Have fun...

You can make CDs from lossless files, just not MP3 CDs. I burned a CD last week of the new Bob Mould and Redd Kross albums, and fit both on one CD with lossless files. The larger size of lossless files should really only be an issue for iPod stora…

Looks like the New Years credits are gone, still got 8 this morning.

I went the other way, started with MP3s and a couple of years ago started re-ripping everything as Apple lossless files. The sound quality on my main system is noticeably improved with the lossless files, though of course I still have thousands of …

I've had a problem recently when syncing my iPhone to a new computer. I have my music library on an external HD, which I have typically moved back and forth between the old iMac in my office and a new Mac Mini (hooked to my audio system as a music …

Thanks Bremble, some good stuff there. I've now used up all my Guvera downloads and will have to replenish daily, but I've got a list of things to keep me busy for a while.

A little OT, but Guvera has Here Come the Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy), Another Green World, and Before and After Science, all of which are excellent. Bowie fans interested in Eno should start there. I'm not int… -
This is a tough one, because I have a lot of Bowie stuff and like/love just about all of it. If I had to pick one album, maybe Station to Station? Aladdin Sane? I'd probably say Ziggy if I hadn't listened to it a thousand times.

The Dukes of Stratosphear album is great. Highly recommended for anyone with even a passing interest in XTC.

I'm in the same boat, looking for recs, so I thought I'd post a list of all the bands I've downloaded from Guvera over the past 2+ years. I have a Guvera playlist in iTunes so it's easy to keep track. Hope it helps with suggestions for some of you…

Found Kirsty MacColl's last album, Tropical Brainstorm.
-
Thanks Doofy for the Housemartins plug. I needed that one. Also got the Damned and Dandy Warhols today.
-
Sign me up for the big Beethoven box. I actually had some unused MP3 credits so it was free.
-
Excellent. I got 8 as well. I was just about to use the last of the credits I had accumulated, too. Thanks!

And the negative progression continues...
Zero credits this morning. -
Only one download this morning. Ready for the new advertisers, whoever they are.
-
I like it.
-
Only two downloads this morning. Still, I have a playlist with all the tracks I've obtained from Guvera in the past two years and it's currently at 1,650 songs. No complaints here.
-
That is kinda cool. Here's mine.
I just set it up so I guess I can add comments and stuff later. The ability to see everything I purchased in one place is nice. Not surprisingly, i… -
Nice change to the interface this morning. Now when you search for an artist, all of the tracks/albums show up on one page and you can just scroll down, instead of having to click through page after page looking for a particular track or album. Th…

How do you get the Playskool and McDonalds credits?

Guvera has a bunch of great BBC Sessions releases, many of which are 2-CD sets for those (like me) who have accumulated a decent number of credits. I've picked up BBC sets from Joe Jackson, Lloyd Cole & the Commotions, Julian Cope, and Squeeze …
-
Thanks BigD for the tip on the Gov't Mule set. I hadn't heard about that one, but I jumped on the 7Digital price and it's downloading now. No problems yet, and what I've heard so far is awesome.

Saw the Old 97's at the 9:30 Club in DC last Friday night. They're doing a run of shows to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Too Far To Care album, so they played the entire album in order at the beginning of the show. One of my favorite bands…
