  • So I dropped off the eMu scene with the original Sony drop - or right after when my account fizzled up. Took their recent we'll-give-you-a-month-free subscription and am shocked that the site navigation is in league with Mtraks.

    On topi…
  • Quick, someone stop me from jumping. I've merrily lived in the downloading stream of magnatune, mtraks, and society of sound for the past couple of years - coupled with all the great free music and tons of amazing trips to the library - and I've bee…
  • I'm DLing right now. Did have my deeply unsatisfying moment when I quit and the next day got noticed that I had restarted my account and was charged. Then they said they fixed it, gave me a refund, but then said I would have to manually quit again. …
  • Anyone having issues here? My subscription was supposed to renew today, but no credits and subscription page is blank. You can now sell your soul for Mtrak credits on Facebook similar to Guvera.
  • Good Month that November... had bonus unexplained dls from Mtraks.

    Mtraks:
    Side A A New Margin *
    Evan Marc Dreamtime Submerisble
I am robot and proud the electricity... *
    Animal Collective Feels

  • What wonderful reads - and watching the show may lessen some of the suspense, but it's still worthwhile. That last book has GRRM crawling at a snail's pace - still fun, but he's not that healthy and it took him five years to write the last one. You …
  • It's cheap and ugly, and right now, I'm also not allowed to purchase anything, saying I don't have permission to use my credits. Literally. Weird. I like the site and all, but this is now the second major hurdle from what the site is designed for: g…
  • Good luck to emusing blog. I'll happily write - give me an excuse to pen some lines about my favorite hobby and take a break from the rest-of-my-life rigors. Finetuning this I'll leave to my emusers better. Fun! But keep it that way too... these thi…
  • Thanks - I'll take another thirty free credits. I have my download list lined up as well. That Apex album's wonderful, though I have to be in the mood for sax meets sitar. Top album's great too - both have strong replay value.
  • I'm getting the Accout Not Confirmed so you can't sign in status. Can't also control the account, so it will be interesting to see if they renew my monthly. No response from customer service. Like the design change and all, but I'm in the Doofy boat…
  • Sorry no links, but here are some of the artists I highly rec from Mtraks.

    Haushchka
    Ilhan Ersahin
    Bonobo
    Curtis Fuller
    Pan American
    Sharon Van Etten
    Luisine
  • I didn't even know this thread existed. Fiest, Beirut, and the Pains of Being Pure all have their latests, all worthwhile. Check out Girlyman if you like Indigo Girls. More recs later...
  • Those of you who Mtrak in lieu of eMu on occasion, they have three top tier albums there right now: Veronica Falls, Feist's new one, and the new Beirut. I left merrily both eMu and Mtraks for a while, but it looks like a solid three-month span of 75…
  • Fair warning on the NoiseTrade site, the albums are free - and there are cool finds - but most of it comes in at 192 CBR, which is crap on quality cans.
  • I'm immensely jealous of these free gifts I've been left out of. I can't complain having used eMu immensely in their hayday and furthermore having renewed eight or nine times only to promptly canceled, but if they're looking to fluff their numbers e…
  • I've happily gone through separation, withdraw, and can tell you I have barely missed emu. Now and then I pop for 75 on Mtraks for old times. Mtraks can give you tags in Chinese as well as horribly low, unlistenable dls (140's vbr).
  • I like the positive thinking, anose. That said, I'm expecting the end. I'm not advertising on FB for free music, nor am I selecting where I shop for that either. Still, I could never complain. Some great music I've acquired for relative ease, espec…

  • Wooo... I realized free music does have its limitations at least for me. I use FB to keep in touch with a few old friends and distant family. I rarely post meaningful stuff on my wall, and then suddenly here I am advertising some Chevy whatever I tr…

  • So, can someone confirm that even you shell out the ten bucks a month, these songs don't go on a mp3 player? I listen to music on the computer about once a week, but a solid bit rate for my mp3, I'd be sold.

  • Hey, I stopped getting rejoin invitations. What kind of deals are you all getting? To emu's credit, I think I joined to get the deal and then quit after a month three or four times - can't remember. For my experimental take on music, I magnatune and…
  • Just wanted to add a few more thoughts after four months of downloading. First, if you dig musical exploration, and you use the site not with a particular artist or album in mind, you're going to find some great music, including some of the artists …

  • Anyone know what are some of the main labels on Guvera? I'm satiated with EMI and Blue Note at this point. And it might just be conditioned by Mtracks, but I know peruse music by label (the only decent way I know on Mtracks to find music).

  • 68 albums of either Blue Note or ECM. I could kiss Guvera or at least give a hug that bordered on slightly inappropriate. 73 total albums, only two of which were Oops that sucked nature. Never had one download problem and the tagging could win award…

  • I jumped back into Mtracks world. First and foremost, the Chinese (?) tagging is extremely annoying - this happens about 20 percent of what I've dled. Sketchy stuff. That aside, it's almost a personal challenge to find a worthy 75 dls, but it's also…
  • Always nice to revel when you have a chance:

    Mtracks:
Chris Lightcap: Deluxe (best mtrack rec so far)
    Breathe Owl Breathe: Magic Central
    Hauschka: Ferndorf
Beniot Delborq Trio: Sixth Jump (great rhythmic jazz)<…
  • Excellent monthly surprise. My wife - who suddenly has been into ECM unconsciously - and I pulled in 20 credits. While missing a few smaller tracks, I got Anourar Brahem's latest, Jon Hassell's Rumi album, Nick Bartsh's Holon, and Stephan Micus's Mu…

  • I like his work - great exploration of sound without cliche drones or even overdone field recordings. But a sticky? There must be some passionate, seriously dedicated fans (or at least one with editorial control) here.
  • Here's my recs after going through much of their catalog. The negative is clearly too much new age nothing blah blah blah music, but there's some cool medieval recordings, a few decent ambient albums, some classical worth having, and some music of t…

  • Free feels good. Got Chick Corea's Return to Forever album. Funny how that stuff work. Not really a fan of fusion much, but this one, what arguably is a base record in the history of fusion, doesn't sound much like fusion and I love it.

  • After discarding Mtracks for a few months in favor of Magnatune, I really dig it. The type of music is quite limited, no matter how diverse they make their genres sound, and some of the music is a cliche of a cliche, especially for new age. But I li…
