  • This thread has me seriously considering signing up for a month or two. One question:

I'm looking at the Essential Media Group label and there's a lot of interesting-looking stuff there. Are they one of those shady, grey-area labels who …
  • My biggest takeway from this thread:

    MTraks still exists?

Seriously, I figured it went the way of audiolunchbox a LONG time ago.

Thanks for the heads up. I might sign up for a month just to grab a lot of good loo…
  • Regarding that Miles Davis disc, it's only $1.96 at eMu. The Red Garland is $4.99 over there, however.
  • Titillating opportunities delay another Yuppie.
  • Perhaps this is the calm before the storm? We are coming up on the one year anniversary of the giant EMI free track giveaway...

  • elwood,

thanks for the Bar Kays rec. I also had 6 credits, so it worked out perfectly.

  • only got 8 credits, but I went ahead and grabbed TV on the Radio's new one. Maybe I'll get the remaining two tracks from eMu when my DLs refresh there.

  • There's too much emphasis on vinyl for my taste. The White Stripes are offering some reissues of some early 45s. But again, it's on vinyl, so I'll probably pass. Plus, I'll be visiting my Mom in Oneonta, NY, not exactly a hotbed of indie music.
  • After you do a search and are presented with the list of results, you'll see a group of icons to the right of each song name. Clicking on one of the icons (the one that looks like a CD with a plus sign above it) will enable you to add the entire alb…

  • I finished up Black Joe Lewis' "tell 'em what your name is" then continued downloading Stewart Copeland's Rumblefish soundtrack. Just two more tracks to go...

  • Plong: thanks for the short-track jazz album recs. I added them to my guvera playlist.

With the eight credits I got today, I finished off LCD Soundsystem's "The London Sessions" and started Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears' "Tell 'Em…

  • BigD-Bluez: During the great EMI giveaway, I came up one track short on an album after all the freebies ran out. So out of appreciation for all the free music they gave me, I bought it from guvera. The process was more or less painless, although the…

  • A fair amount of Camel releases are not yet available digitally. Later King Crimson, too.
  • I was in on the beta test, which offered five free DLs a week. You had to watch a 30 second commercial before each DL. Very similar to Guvera.

I'm not a big fan of the new, Facebook-ized version, tho. I'm a cheap bastard who loves me som…
  • Regarding the missing tracks to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' The Boatman's Call:

The album is available on 7digital in the UK and Rhapsody in the US.
  • Guvera has several late period Talking Heads available thru the promo, but they're a mess. "True Stories" has all but one track. "Little Creatures" is missing several, and "Naked" and Stop Making Sense" are missing more.
  • Daytripper: Actually, Built to Spill is on Warner, so it's surprising that any of their tracks are on Guvera.

    About some missing tracks...

The title track from The Good, The Bad and the Queen's self-titled album (another Damo…
  • BT: I saw that one too but I'm not sure if it's the right version. What scares me is it doesn't say "Rudy Van Gelder Edition 1999 Digital Remaster", like all the other tracks from that album.

I suppose buying it on Amazon for $0.99 is a …

  • Bad Thoughts: Love the Waterboys rec. I'll put it in my SFL list.

I need more help: I'm trying to complete Hank Mobley's Soul Station and I can't seem to find "Remember." Has anyone had any luck finding this track?

  • grabbed "Band on the Run" which, by the way, seems unavailable on Amazon or eMu for some reason.

Now I have two left. Any 2-track Blue Note albums out there?
in Guvera Comment by anose September 2010
  • 10 DLs left. Should I start a new album and hope I get a fresh 31 tomorrow so I can finish it off or find something with exactly 10 tracks?
in Guvera Comment by anose September 2010
  • I know it's cheaper at Amazon, but I don't mind rewarding Guvera for everything they've given me in the last week. A (very) small price to pay.

  • Bummer. I downloaded four out of five tracks from Lee Morgan's "Search For The New Land" with my remaining DLs today. Oh well. If it really is over, I'll happily pay Guvera $1.59 for that last track to complete the album.

  • How do we know the promo ended?
in Guvera Comment by anose September 2010
  • Has anyone tried downloading any Wings and/or Paul Mc? It's crazy. A song from one album (say, Uncle Albert from Wings Greatest) does not qualify for this promotion, while Uncle Albert from Ram does. It took me an hour to compile a facsimile of Wing…

  • Craig,

Thanks for the Blakey tip. I swear to Monk that I did a track search for "A Night in Tunisia" and I did not see that one. I'm hoping it's the right version to match with that album.
in Guvera Comment by anose September 2010
  • HELP! Downloaded Art Blakey's "A Night in Tunisia" before I realized that it doesn't contain the title track. Has anyone been able to find it?
