Thanks Thom. I didn't know Depp has a history of guitar playing that precedes his pirate playing.

Nice, Zalenka. I had an aunt give me two cassettes of some of his chamber music that included a bassoon when I first started playing bassoon. I had forgotten about him and his work until, as a a member of eMusic, I searched him out again. He is def…

Glad someone posted the Hem. I haven't made it through it all the way, but so far prefer the opening two tracks from their upcoming album that come with the free download. I think I was thrown off by the band name drops to think that its lead singer…

The dialogue banter between the different superheroes in The Avengers is worth the price of admission alone.

I wonder if an answer to some genre issues, like sub genres of jazz ,is to use the comments field in iTunes. I believe you can make smart playlists that look for such tags. I haven't used it much, but I started tagging cover songs with the term cove…

I picked this up on eMusic a few years ago as part of my foray into electronic music. I had trouble getting through it … -

Awesome Craig. I really need to read some DFW. I have a copy of his essay "A supposedly fun thing I'll never do again" about cruise ships I keep meaning to read. My hipster cred is low.
Right now, I'm reading and alternating between liki… -
I like to shuffle by genres sometimes, so like jazz to be jazz and alt-country to be alt-country.
For classical music I do try to put the composer's name in the album title, so it shows up when i am looking by albums. That used to be a b… -
Just noticed this discussion and makes me realize I'm in the right place. I retag stuff for various reasons, such as tagging all Christmas music as Christmas music under the genre, so I can use a smart playlist and also unmark it in iTunes outside o…

I enjoyed Firefly too between the movie and tv series. I could never get into some of Whedon's stuff, especially Buffy. Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog is worth watching at least once.

@Doofy She is also in a version of Wharton's House of Mirth.

Iggy Popwith A Hawk and a Hacksaw seems an unlikely combination, given that the latter have been making some version of Eastern Europeanish folk music. Will check that out. What's with Johnny Depp on some of these tracks? I know he is the Disney pir…

I was annoyed at the end of BSG as well. With all the hype and build up, it just didn't seem worth it.
It wasn't as bad as not much else could as the end of Lost though. That will be one of the worst series finales of all time.
$2.99 sale packed with actual goodness, like the alt-j album, black keys, Father J…Awww, that's too bad. I only used it once, but always thought of it in eMusic like terms as well.I like well spelled hype as well.Okay, then color me not impressed, at least not when the price is too close to elsewhere like Amazon, with all its other benefits not found on eMusic. Are there perhaps two sets of prices now, one for members and one for non-members? I only say this from looking at an album from a small band, Air Review, that was maybe a week ago, About $4.41, but now it comes up as $8.91 when I log in, but when …We can give you one of our zip codes PaulRHmm, I guess not. I didn't get a newsletter either in January. I noticed that they sometimes skip a month here and there.
