A month ago I wrote, "Back at the beginning of June I got an offer of one month for $0.99, but didn't take them up on it before it expired on June 30th." Now I see that they're offering to people who download a free sampler via the NPR Web site aNew album by Tinariwen. I haven't listened yet, as I just now found it and it's time for bed, but based on what they've done before I don't have any hesitation about recommending it anyway. And it has a little Nels Cline, too.

Amazingly, this is the first time I've ever listened to this album, although of course I've heard some of the songs in other contexts.…Owsley, a few days ago. Not a musician himself, but an influence on lots of musicians, particularly the Dead. Long, interesting article about himOne of my favorites at one time. I wonder if it would still sound good today or not.
