Hi Rod, I've been listening to both versions of the death and resurrection of Christ that you sent me. Thanks again for that and indeed the rather splendid Penderecki at 80 collection. Reason for the mail is that I can't seem to find any details online regarding the version conducted by the man himself. Do you have any? Just my curiosity is all. Hope all is well. Best Dave H.

Several rips later. I see this cover on my unsorted shelves and think "I love that cover" without a clue as to who it is.

Sunday morning is, or should be, rip some more cds to FLAC in preparation for the "big move". It's a bit like a labour of Hercules but you do turn up some nice things that haven't been listened to enough.

And while I'm at it. (I've forgotten how to embed the url in the picture, or has it changed?)
(Quote) Same here, lovely stuff; I'm still chewing on his 2013 album Impossible Truth which probably recommended to me here.(Quote) You are the only person I know who bought that. I used to look at it in the catalogue and try to justify the expense. I do love what I've heard of the Ganelin Trio and Leo himself used to live about 4 miles from here.Oh the warmth is still here, but mixed with grey skies and drizzle it quickly loses it's charm ;-) Not good weather for unloading 1.5 tonnes of art magazines I'll tell you!Composition for Shitty Piano - gotta love it. I'm used to improv pianists complaining about those - though strangely folk like Christian Wolff just tend to get on with it. Sorry bit of a tangent. Thanks for (another) heads up.No shorts or garden in this part of London but off to Apsley House soon with maybe even a visit to a record shop later with an old music mukka who is down from the cold north this weekend. No current view out of the window as the blinds are down ;-)…(Quote) Some great woozy sounds here. I really should pay more attention to TMTapes. Thanks.
You can't go far wrong with a Lisbon Tram, but I only ever rode the #1 not the #12. Actual recommendation by the Emu Robots.
(Quote) I was just looking at the What Are You Reading thread then moved onto this one, basically "I got what you did there" ;-) Is this a good recording btw or does it show 1964 type limitations?(Quote)
(Quote) Also just got this, many thanks for the heads up. I put all 4 discs into a mix yesterday along with albums by the likes of Astral Social Club, Roy Montgomery, Vibracathedral Orchestra and We Will Fail. Great fun though I didn't manage…(Quote) This was my introduction a few years back
http://www.emusic.com/album/grouper/dragging-a-dead-deer-up-a-hill/13713299/I was lucky enough to see the boys perform this in the 90's. As I was with a noted zine editor we got access to the Green Room afterwards. The contrast between performers couldn't have been more different. (Quote) I should really go to the London show as I haven't even been to that newish venue yet. However all I can think of is engineering work on the travel home on a Sunday evening. Truly I am turning into an old man!(Quote) Ooooooh! Billy Bang I didn't have!!! Thanks Doofy.Don't really like posting these things, but this man I saw play at least twice. Once in an "Ethiopian All-Stars" gig at The Barbican in London and once with a big group of less than sober mates in Utrecht in the Nederlands playing with The Ex in big…But in fact I first spotted another heads up from yerself Roomful of Teeth / Caroline Shaw - Partitia for 8 Voices. Great if you give it some volume for after work (with a beer!) Must be something to do with the *gasp* sunshine in South London right…Ah I picked up on yr recommendation for the Perich / Chow album previously. And I'll go and dig it out for a listen now. ;-)
Enjoying this with the various phases it moves through, thanks B.N.(Quote) Arghh! another of their gigs that I didn't get to. The ever evolving line up really is a boon with this group, fine folks one and all.Don't fret Googled the obvious and yes the mix is on the Awesome Tapes From Africa blog as you might imagine. If you don't know said blog or it's cd licensed re-issues get there immediately. Do not pass go; do not collect £200. You'll thank me (and …(Quote) The link just sends me around in circles... any clues?(Quote)
I'll join the queue here and also note that as well as being damnfine it is silly cheap in the UK, Emu has it for just 84p.(Quote) I'll 3rd this suggestion very nice and available in the UK at a silly 84p!
