I thought they nailed Game of Thrones. A great job. The HBO viewer's guide is chock full of information, well done.

New Tobin, cool!

Bn, in a not dissimilar (but more processed) vein, I bet you'd like solo saxophonist/sound artist Thomas Ankersmit (his site has a couple streams that you can also download). His release …

SM, avoid that embarrassing moment by pulling out your fist instead. Then use it. Nothing worse than people being righteously incorrect.

Well, the playlist contents and "usage" should be easy to check: visually inspect the contents of the pc=0 playlist ("< 1" should be exactly the same) - what looks odd about it? You can always "refresh" it by unchecking/OK the 'limit to' checkbo…

Katrina, does your master shuffle reference a pc=0 playlist? If not, throw it in the mix, just limit it to N tracks, a number that mixes a desired proportion in. That way a steady stream of unheard tracks eventually gets heard.
If your… -
Btw, my playlists are mostly back to working (i.e. live-updating). After isolating that the criteria-based (not playlist-based) smart playlists "worked", I then found that my playcount=0 one didn't. That playlist had pc=0 + kind = ''audio" + not-a…

Gp, don't reset, just (gradually?) switch your criteria to 'last played'.
-
(Quote) Is this because you're a relatively recent convert to smart playlists? They are what's let me keep my playcount=0 generally under a hundred running, fed by new additions. My oldest unheard track is 5 weeks old. I wonder what others' pc…

Yeah, Gp, I was familiar with one-off situations like you mention, but with Amazon being the one big digital retailer that also sells hardcopies, it seems like a pretty easy value-add to throw into the mix with relatively little overhead, particular…

Heh, interesting. To me he's (apologies for my near-certain gender presumption

One thing that Amazon could do to possibly beef up cd sales a bit is offer immediate downloads of a purchased cd. That doesn't seem like the kind of thing the record companies would object to, and I bet that many cd purchasers are ripping them upon…

I get the ire directed towards Wanderer, who loves to troll, but I just don't see the comparison to Jazzshrink, whose opinions and stances seem honestly held to me, and otherwise is just someone who's occasionally let himself be dragged into some ba…

eMusic can be blamed for many things, but I don't see them as being more than very passive partners in labels' active decisions to raise prices. Rounder, for example, is Concord's fault, not emu's.

Bah, I didn't check before posting - only samples on that Ben Frost page. :-(

The excellent experimental electronica artist Ben Frost has his discography available for streaming. Thanks to brighternow for introducing me to him - his records Theory o…

Doofy: (Quote) Statistical misconceptions go way past that, I think. Humans are just naturally very, very bad in probability & statistics, built on a large foundation of a number of cognitive biases. I really do think prob&stat should be…

I tend to geek out about statistical stuff, so dearly loved this xkcd. (Not showing it, because xkcd's would otherwise constantly take up this thread.

Those TV On The Radio albums are a steal. Great band.

Well, they are cheaper on average. And usually you would want to contact the label to rectify pricing errors. But this is one case where I'm reluctant to pursue it, because what if the Amazon pricing is a mistake? Then correcting it would make th…

In Europe is a classic, and that version of "Priestess" is canonical. But you can get it cheaper (as I implied above) at Amazon, where lots of Bl…

JUJ, as that's a fine Billy Harper composition, note that you can easily find his performances on several albums, generally cheap on Amazon digitally.

I think Occam would say that intentionality is always overrated when incompetence is on the table as possible explanation.

It is perpetually hilarious how bad (or nonexistent) the product managers are there.
