Over on another thread, I explained that my techno/house album list will be unsatisfactory for those who prefer more serious, experimental electronica, as I gather most here do. I’m not sure there’s enough of it left on the site to give it’s own…

@Germanprof I like all that you linked (the Frank Bretschneider one comes up unavailable; had to look for other stuff of his, nice to know eMusic doesn’t have the unavailab…
-
@Dark_Magus In defense of the list, it’s a product of returning from the trenches of endless, samey EDM in the confines of eMusic’s remainders and needing examples that fit…

Delighted to consider this comparison deeply...I don't think we're going to make a lot of friends or please our family members with either of them. Since we agree that techno, or at least austere electronic music like these both loses something wit…

Indeed, maybe I just need to listen to another album or two, but I loved both I got from Byetone, whereas Unieqav might not get to five spins (there I go doing that play # standard I claim to reject). I'll sample Univrs and Xerrox 2.

Thirded for Gilberto Gil. Quite a lot if one wants to be a completist, though.

@Germanprof
A keen observation I'm inclined to agree with, though there's still the possibility of different aesthetics finding very different albums excellent. When te… -
These lists can be fun distractions from the overall trend. I've got and enjoy 1, 2, & 6 and will have to look into the rest when the subscription rolls over at the end of the month.

@peterfrederics Here's hoping obsolescence of these lists is right around the corner as things finally pick up and turn around with the fulfillment of their master plan. …

1, 2 (my collection sits in storage while I'm out of the country, sadly), 3 is absolutely essential to survive on eMusic, 4, 7 frequently, 8, 10. I understand 6 for people whose job it is to analyze, say, classical music recordings. 5&9 I see …

Indeed I think music collectors and otherwise obsessives get an unfair shake from judgmental society...even Zweig's doc is a bit dour...whereas something I'd… -
Certainly another emotional topic would be the first album we owned, the first one we bought with our own money, and whether any of them are anywhere near our favorites today. I didn't find any results on the forum for Alan Zweig's 2000 documentary…

@rostasi
That's a mighty diverse playlist, and I can't say I've heard of much of it. Bravo for that. Agreed that listening mostly on shuffle leads to a very egalitarian a… -

I figure we’re going to get asymptotes on these forums, but I’m still impressed by your meticulous reply. I thin…

@greg As I replied on another forum, there’s clearly an academic, anthropological yet quantitative study to find in these highly personal accounts, and I would honestly love to …

That'd be quite a skeleton crew, but a Manhattan office might still seem crowded rather than cavernous with two people in it.

I think I’ve listened to my all-time favorite album, “In Sides” by Orbital (1996) about fifty times. Would be more if my brothers hadn’t blasted it and made me no…

Remind me never to doubt your recs. "El Mar en la Calle" is excellent, and if pressed I guess I'd have to call it punk rock. -
@idiotprogrammer Was having trouble posting here for a while with the “disk full” message, but glad it seems fixed. I took the liberty of sharing your Albanian recs o…

@idiotprogrammer I was actually pondering why you're so much more willing to dive into the int'l lists and labels, but the PC connection says it all--funny how buying …

The “Miles Away” album has been on the first page of my wishlist for years, the miraculous sole survivor still on the site, I believe. I never pulled the trigger on it, but with your rec maybe it’s time to sample again at least.

Someone tried to kill "Loggy Log, Horse, Clock, Leg and Arm" by The Henry Road with faint praise, and although it's really from 2009 if we trust the date on the page, it's on 1974 Records, whose artists seem to approach the sound of the 70s from dif…

ADDENDUM:
Clicking on every non-single album in the catalogs of StreetVoice, Magic StrawBerry Sound, and other labels mentioned in the OP turned out to be more arduous than exciting. There was a lot more junk than I thought, but I do…

The Italians on Wiz Music Srl are probably more of interest for (proto-)punk and pop rock of the 1970s than prog, but I'm not sure what else to do with the disco-rock of Le Streghe than to leave it here... in 1960s/70s PROGRESSIVE ROCK ON EMUSIC Comment by omnifoo September 2019

One of the happiest surprises from thoroughly exploring StreetVoice was finding several nice, varied jazz 爵士 (jué shì) albums. Before this spring, I hadn’t heard anything but cheesy, easy listening come out of the old country. All of these li…

To keep this thread from falling off the first page, I'll start posting individual artists/groups/bands with more than one album available in a separate post (here). Added a lot to the first one near the top, so I hope everyone who wants a list kee…

As the hard drives fill up, music transfers are always precarious. I lost dozens of first tracks b/c the many named "Intro" were being treated as duplicates and haven't been able to track them all down years later. I like keeping track of plays to…
