(Quote)You are assuming logic is involved in any eMusic business transaction? ;-)

Well, it was just announced today that Mr. Koch and his investment group have effectively acquired 7Digital, with Koch now chairman of 7Dig and the eMusic CFO taking over the CFO role at 7DIG, too. The previous 7Dig CEO and CFO, who just start…(Quote) And a fine list it is, particularly this month...
He has answered that question previously, albeit somewhat indirectly. They are not going to pay their past due bills, and they are not going to rebuild the retail store. Koch has claimed publicly on multiple occasions that labels are the enemy of…(Quote) Yes, that really should become the new eMusic logo/avatar.
Yeah, I noticed Jazz Engine seems to aggregate some other labels, too. Anyway, jazz is so sparse on eMusic now that anything good is welcome, which brings me to this odd find today (cross-posted below from my post in the eMusic Bargains thread...)<…OK, this one is truly bizarre... (the situation, not the album). Ropeadope, a jazz label that fled eMusic a couple years ago, has exactly one new release suddenly available on eMusic, and it is actually a 2019 release and only $4.99. Some…(Quote)I always have enjoyed both of these eclectic labels - used to be mainstays for me on eMusic (Auand is still sort of still there under the alternate label name Jazz Engine). Was glad to see your BITW and Bandcamp…(Quote)Ditto - thanks! And yes, we used to get Ed on eMusic (still on 7DIG, though), but had missed that he had a new release out. This isn't quite an eMusic bargain, but it's a 7Digital bargain (and with 7DIG saying they may go into insolvency at the end of July, a bargain that may not be around much longer):
I think the market shift is even more dramatic than simply a shift from CDs/downloads to streaming. Bigger name artists and major labels are recognizing that selling $200 concert tickets is the way to compensate for the loss of revenue from sales …A nice little chamber jazz release from Shifting Paradigm label showed up on eMusic (around release date, no less), and at a great value, too ($2.99, about 39 min of music). It is also available on Bandcamp, but here's the eMusic link for the…A good deal on some good jazz... Although the email blast said the sale was for this past Monday only (Memorial Day in US), Shifting Paradigm still has 30% off all physical or digital albums at their Bandcamp site. (Some of their back catalog…In what surely is another of the seven signs of the apocalypse, an actual new jazz release on a credible (small) jazz label has appeared on eMusic on its actual release date:
Re: Blockchain - My understanding is that there are a few factors at play for eMusic. First, they never got regulatory approval in the US to sell their tokens, so you don't even have the option to buy them here. Second, for those in overseas mar…@soyabeanz, welcome, and well said! I've always felt the "we're going to be a distributor now because we have a blockchain!" approach was a really bad business strategy. Are these "emerging artists creating blockchain pages" the same ones making the "This is My Cousin's Music Video" posts over on the eMusic reddit forum? That's about what I imagine will be the typical "artist" signing up for the blockchain... ;-…The extraordinarily slim jazz and classical pickings on the carcass of the body formerly known as eMusic continue to diminish, but a couple recent eMusic releases of some note:
in Freshly Dropped/Discovered over at eMu Comment by soulcoal May 2019(Quote)It appears that getting a reservation will not be a problem... ;-)There is just not much to say these days. No updates from eMusic, and, as noted by many here, there are still a handful of interesting things, but nothing to drive lots of traffic. I've even noticed a slowdown in traffic/posts here, particularly…All Edition Records music (digital or physical) on Bandcamp is 30% off right now to celebrate their 11th Anniversary. Used to be on eMusic, but no longer, so a good chance to pick up some good jazz! Code: weare11Well, I didn't say 100% crap, just 98%. :-) And I agree that this site (and particularly the "Still on eMusic" forum you started) have been very helpful. It's just tough to even ponder what "back to normal" could mean going forward for eMusic. I…(Quote)"Normal" meaning a catalogue full of 98% vapid crap and very little meaningful content? ;-)(Quote) I notice the play counts for those "artists" are next to nothing in most cases. So, yeah, the content gets dumped in Spotify, too (who probably like the padding of statistics for how many titles they have in their race to the bottom …Lara's response is a slightly more eloquent version of what Sam used to regularly post - e.g. "we're working on it", "it's a priority", "distributor *** will be back next month", etc.
Until you see a tweet (and eMusic is nothing if not a…I'm pretty sure that response from Kenny (their standard "next month will be the turning point when content will return" message) has an unfortunate correlation to an assumption that their long-delayed ICO process will finally fund in the next …(Quote) I would add Shifting Paradigm and Gondwana to that list, along with the remnant of old releases at ACT. Slim pickings, to be sure.
(Quote)I suspect these come from the 7Digital side of the house, as 7DIG gets most of their (paltry) revenue from Muzak-like B2B services. So there is some department store elevator operator out there who is subscrib…(Quote)Yes, that differentiation became clear when Naxos left last fall. My guess is that they have a different distributor in Europe, and that's why the old catalogue for ACT, while not updating, still exists oversea…
