For the record, python is named for Monty Python. The history of hackers is replete with geeky references such as that.
Python is actually a programming language, but its syntax (the way it is written) is very user friendly and readable a… -
From what I can see, it's all python scripts. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try one out today.

Wow, that's high praise. Split Peas is such a great EP. I'll have to hit Spotify tonight.

Can't stream her new one, so:

Yeah, keep doing it. The worst that would likely happen is that you'd have to take some down or maybe just stop. I was just curious if you had actually looked into it and had more insight than I had, and definitely don't want you to get worried abou…

I finally figured out a way around the filters at work for this site. Unfortunately half of the images are still blocked and I end up confused as to what BN is actually listening to. At least that Car… -
@bremble - Not sure if you've mentioned this or not, but do you worry about the licensing aspect of your podcast? I always wanted to do one, but would get scared away by the lega…

And to be honest, I'm just totally confused as to how I never heard or even saw a copy of that album before.

@cafreema - Check under V-Twin (no spaces). It looks like they may have mistagged them on Drip and last.fm has no autocorrect set up.

Thanks for the heads up. It would make sense to start the switch to libre.fm (for me at least). I haven't really used the client in a long time as most of the software I use has scrobbling built-in.
I mostly like using it because I've swi… -
Some very good points there. And it certainly explains why so many releases (especially from the majors) can be picked up on the cheap months later - those shops get stuck with a lot of extra stock. I bet Cassette Day doesn't have this problem.

It's amazing to me that absolutely no art was created during the thousands of years before the codification of copyright laws. Sorry if I've derailed this conversation with my "hippie dippy" US Constitution talk.

And for those who still don't realize the difference, here's a breakdown of the basslines and cowbells.

@jackedUPjazz - So you still don't understand the difference between intellectual property and physical property? You need to spend a few hours reading up on the topic, beca…

As for the Jackson song, seriously? That's not a similar groove, that's the same music slightly transposed. Which is why Dewey Bunnell got a songwriting credit and, most likely, some songwriting money.

I can't help you if you think it's the same song, because I only hear a cheap imitation - far from an exact copy.
As for who should get the money, whoever can sell it. At this point in time I think all of Gaye's music should be in the pub… -
No, it's horseshit. Marvin Gaye was a phenomenal talent. But his music doesn't deserve any extra special protection from the government beyond what anybody else gets. The fact that he is sacred to you and millions of other people doesn't put him abo…

No doubt, Blurred Lines is a horrendous song with a strong rape-apologist message. The video is disgusting at best. But that should never be part of the issue in this case.

Ha! You're right. I was thinking of them dropping the Go-Betweens comp. recently - which I was hoping would lead to more of their back catalog. Sub Pop has been a fantastic Drip, too.

Domino has a tendency to be boom and bust. After nothing for a couple weeks, they'll drop a couple singles and suddenly show 6 albums coming soon. And sometimes it just takes a member to comment on the forum about nothing having shown up and suddenl…

This whole discussion depresses me so much I can't even respond properly. The only thing I can say for sure is that copyright sucks.
Also, if you think that the music you grew up with is some sort of sacred cow that magically developed in… -
Roky Erickson - Don't Slander Me

(Quote) Probably because I've been derelict in my duties of updating the Drip thread. Their catalog is truly awesome, and I now have 2 Roky Erickson albums in my collection thanks to them. Well worth it.

(Quote) OK, but my coworkers might look at me funny if I just start singing in my office.
