SWEET!

I am SHOCKED. She actually apologized when I called her out for not posting before the holiday weekend. Of course she still hasn't apologized for lying to us before.

Stars, Steve Mason, and now Stornoway. Anyone see a theme?

Their incompetence knows no bounds. "Hmm, there's some complaints about the quality of our recent and much publicized UMG catalog acquisition. Should I respond promptly before our long holiday or assume that no one will care that we ignore it for al…

Side note with AAC - it is slightly more open than MP3. Probably a better format - but just like VHS, the better format doesn't always win.

I'd be curious to run a comparison on some ECM albums. For starters, because they are just about the only thing from this drop that truly interests me. But even bigger is the fact that I have 22 albums from ECM via eMusic UK. They were encoded with …

@ScissorMan - That's almost exactly what I said at one point. I could see him being a plant from a major label, but he's way too antagonistic to be paid by eMu. However, the l…

No, that's the right amount of detail. I need to go back and listen to the previous Beach House releases. None of the songs I heard before really grabbed me. Teen Dream, on the other hand, wowed me.

I thought they expired a while ago. What'd you get?

(Quote) I see that he still considers his insults to be perfectly acceptable, although he bitched and moaned for weeks about some perceived slight from some unknown user at some unspecified time. Why doesn't eMu just do everybody a favor and dele…

No problem. You would have more comments from me in the past except, until recently, I constantly had problem leaving them on Blogspot.Is that why you were playing all the TG? I had not heard about Sleazy passing - that's a shame.I might be swinging by a Target today after all. I'm impressed some of you guys actually made out decently. Nice moves with the X-Box froggy.
@jUj - You crack me up.Are you afraid you'll wear out the mp3s? Ba-da-tsh
I'm assuming you are referring to the physical copies. I just checked and they only let you put one in your …Thank god. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me having over 30...I was wondering if she was a Minneapolis act. Hadn't heard anything about her. And usually I'm fairly well plugged in. That's good to get some local acts in on these lists.@Craig - Good call on Owen Pallett.
I think it's a bad idea to do 100 for a year. It makes it seem much more "all encompassing" but there will still be too many albums …I saw you mention White Hinterland in Craig's thread, too. I was curious about them, but haven't given them enough of a chance. Part of me wanted to not be interested in Deerhunter, but I broke down and got from eMu. Pretty damn good for such a subt…I really have to sit down and listen to The Monitor again. I thought it was good when I first heard it but didn't pick it up. Since then it's been stuck in purchase purgatory for me.
That Dessa album sounds up my alley (especially…I count 35 I own. Probably 6 or 7 of those were Amie freebies that I otherwise might not have "purchased".I'm worried about how everything will sound once I get an awesome stereo hookup, too. But here's the thing - more bits ain't gonna do much. Unless you switch to lossless, you're not going to hear much difference.
I am by no means an expe…@tim - All interesting thoughts. Thanks. I would probably be picking up one of those Blu-ray players with Netflix if I hadn't grabbed an upconverting DVD player or installed Netflix …Another point to add, the VBR settings can have their ranges modified. Because most users do not understand that bitrate does not equal quality, it appears that some sites will use VBR V0 from LAME but limit the range to make sure that the bitrate c…
