Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse - Dark Night of the Soul (first impressions weren't very good, second listen brought me around)
@BigD - I have great admiration for dancers like Legacy, Jose, and especially Russell who were able to really grow beyond their style despite little to no training. Legacy was prett…CCleaner
It's free! It's fun! It chops, dices, slices, and sashays those LSOs right the hell off your computer.
I even use it at work. Does an excellent job of cle…The original format was a bunch of auditions eventually led them to the top 20 dancers - 10 guys and 10 girls. They would then pair them up in a not-so-random fashion (a 6'6" crumper with a 5' tapper would just be cruel). The couples performed toget…Robert, Kent, and Lauren are the top 3 for me. I've said for the past couple of weeks that I'd be pretty surprised if Kent doesn't win it all. He is a fantastic dancer and has a ridiculous appeal with the teenage girls that vote so heavily for these…@elwood, if you like Krautrock, you'll love Neu! Now I'm torn on the set, because I decided to pick up Neu! 86 for $3.25 and also have 2 of the albums from eMu. I have to check if…Listened again this morning. If you like funk, you NEED this record...If you dig that fuzzy surf vibe that the young hepcats are into, check out this freebie from Beat Connection.
P.S. Bandcamp fixed my issue with the Amanda Palmer EP. They d…The tracks I grabbed from Conference of the Birds (yesterday and today) seem fine.I guess it wasn't a departure after all. I was all set to mention that Six Degrees had also fled when - lo and behold - ECM is suddenly back. And so is Six Degrees. Conference of the Birds, here I come...Every time I start thinking about how many albums I could grab from them with the daily freebie I have to remind myself that it probably won't last.
Craig, couple quick questions about Gang of Four: Which tracks did you have problems wit…I could be mistaken, but it looks like ECM may be gone. I finished Witchi-Tai-To last night and was going to start Conference of the Birds today, but none of it is coming up in searches. ARGH!Sorry, I've just never been able to get into 9. It seems so derivative of 3...I've actually had almost the opposite - most of the stuff I've grabbed has been double tagged! "Tago Mago; Tago Mago" by "Can; Can", etc. Weird. Their genre is 20...Natural Self has some freebies, including a 9+ minute mix of his upcoming EP.
I'll also shill for Fang Island again…On the homepage there is a "Report a bug" link next to the Guvera Beta logo. It sends an e-mail to support@guvera.com. Haven't had to contact them yet, so I got no clue how responsive they are. Let us know. That's funny, because Betty Davis was in my last haul from eMu, too. I really wanted to grab They Say I'm Different because of the…Great album. Might need to give it a spin this morning, too.I'm going through Can's discography now. Figure it will go by somewhat fast since most of their albums have 6 or 7 tracks. Listening to "Halleluwah" right now - really awesome music.
Gang of Four is an excellent choice for my next endeav…There's part of me that wishes I had kept all of the zip files and then burned them off onto DVDs just in case I screwed up something and couldn't re-download. But the reality is that they are redundant. I unzip them to one folder, delete the zips, …I'm bummed. I was really looking forward to how the Shaft recs thread would go. Lots of great funky soul and r&b from the 70s out there. Anyone else dig Betty Davis?
