How do I cancel my emusic subscription when account is "on hold"?

I've had my account on hold, but tried to cancel this morning. I see my only option on login is to hit the "reactivate account" button. It won't let me pull up any other plan options. What is going to happen when I hit the reactivate button? It seems to me I'm going to get charged.

  • You'll get charged if you click activate, at least that is what happens to me when flip my account off hold.
  • Can you yank your credit card info out before reactivating?

So I just looked; I'm cancelled and they won't let me take my credit card number out without re-activating; but they still have my credit card information! Come to think of it can you ever yank your credit card info out?
  • I'd cancel via phone. It's a pain, but it should get the job done.

  • I called emusic customer service but was put on hold for a loooong time (while being subjected to the most irritating music - kinda funny that a digital music download company would have such lousy music when they put you on hold). I finally figured out I could reply to their email reminder to me that my hold status was ending soon. I managed to contact them by email that way.
  • The terrible music-on-hold is probably deliberate, a contractual thing with the major labels who assume that if they were to play actual songs while people are on hold, those people would tape the songs right off the phone and use the recordings to make pirated CDs. As for why they would force people to call them or e-mail them to cancel their subscriptions, that's actually pretty obvious... though that doesn't make it stink any less.
