Hey IT guys, are you glad you don't work for last.fm right now?

I don't understand what a lot of this means, but I do know they've been working on the issues for well over 24 hours yet last.fm users are still acting like Veruca Salt and want their scrobbles back NOW!

So I would like to say to all IT folks (last.fm included if one of them ever sees this), thanks for keeping stuff running! That even goes to the folks at eMu. It's not the IT departments fault that the powers that be over there don't want to enter the 21st century.

  • I've been getting "error connecting to your library" too. Though I can't imagine ever sending a complaint about it, I also am somewhat irrationally attached to my Scrobbles. In fact, make that very irrationally, since neither I nor anyone else makes much use of the information.

"Here's to you, Mr free online music service IT guy"...there's a Bud Light commercial in there somewhere.
  • I'm irrationally attached too. It's pathetic really.

  • Working for companies that provide "free" consumer services online has only served to deeply entrench my misanthropy. That said, the Last.fm team has my profound sympathies and I can completely empathize with them, especially anything that impacts the DB.
  • My sympathies to them. And they said they tested their fail-over plans. Hmmm. That's unfortunate.
  • So...who the hell are the people asking for "free one-month subscriptions"? I wasn't aware that anybody was paying lastfm for anything!
  • You can subscribe. I think thom did for awhile. Not sure what you get except that you can see the ID of anyone who visits your page.

  • Subscribing let's you listen to your own collection and create your own playlists or something like that. At one point it also let you stream a lot of albums, but I think that deal fell through. Essentially it made it more like a cross between Pandora and Mog/Rdio.
  • Anyone been having trouble with the last.fm scrubbing app? It's been quite unstable since the last update on my Mac. Might be a Mavericks issue.
  • I haven't had any issues at all.

    Assuming you're talking about scrobbling.

  • Err yes, though if the app would start scrubbing, I think I would find it a few things to clean around the apartment.
