Edited to add: Neither the first or the second set of playlists have all the albums/tracks that are available in the US. I've started putting albums I dig up on playlists:
50's supplemental albums and tracks (has the missing albums I could find, I assembled some from various collections. Where I wasn't sure I checked the track against the Amazon preview to be sure it was the same recording.
60's supplemental albums and tracks (in progress)

Thanks, Plong42. Unfortunately, Volumes 4, 7, 8, 9, and 12-15 are not available in the US. I didn't see any other releases to substitute.

In other weird developments, I'm sometimes getting "Unable to play the current track" errors on ads, which requires messing with the player to get the next track to play.

Here's my own very modest contribution. I found a more complete version of one of the albums on the 1001
Albums playlist. I suppose these are available in the USA and not other places in the world, or maybe they just weren't available when the playlist was made. Anyway, it seemed like a good idea to collect and share these finds. I'll add any more that I come across.

@Daniel, Esq.: May I recommend the 1001 Albums playlists? It's embarrassing how many of these I've never heard properly. Many became victims of greatest hits compilations. So far there's only one I've skipped because I've heard it properly end-to-end many times (Phil Spector's Christmas Album, an holiday staple in my house).

I've gone in search of reviews to answer this wtf? It's apparently considered an important albeit somewhat obscure new wave album. Haircut One Hundred were more popular in the UK. Perhaps a native can explain what all the fuss is about.

Well I am a native, and my puzzlement was not because of obscurity but because I remember them as a popular but embarrassing band for young teens and decidedly uncool and not particularly musical. I am astonished by the thought that they are considered musically significant...maybe they're just one of the list compiler's faves?

Well, remember it's the "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" list. So if that's Album No. 1001, you have to figure they're just including it so that you'll actually wish for the thing that comes next.

Yeah, I've got a million of 'em. (Bad wisecracks that is, not Spotify lists - I only have about four Spotify lists.)

I'm finding albums that are missing or incomplete on the 1001 Albums playlists I posted above. I'm playing off the two playlist set. I need to remember to check the other list before I go digging. After laboriously assembling a Fats Domino album, I saw it was on the other list. I haven't compared it to mine yet, but I found all the tracks. I've updated the post with the playlists to include links to my supplemental playlists.

The Guardain have a number of Ultimate Guide to .... playlists, eg, World and Folk, Pop, Rock, Jazz and Blues, that show the key points in the evolution of that genre. Search for Guardian and you'll find them

I think those 1001 album playlists must be by non-us users (one of them certainly is). I found several 50's albums, and I'm finding more for the 60's as I go through. I've started making my own playlists so I don't miss any albums. The 50's one is done but probably could use some tweaks. The 60's are in progress. I'm into '66 now. If you subscribe you'll see the albums when I add them. I'll add these to the 1001 albums post when they're in a little better shape.

If you're a US user and want to work on these playlists, let me know. I'll copy the lists to collaborative playlists, then I can copy new tracks to the public list. I generally prefer to have just the original album tracks in the original sequence. Some of the albums currently have added tracks off the reissues, and these may not be in original sequence as well.

70 - 75 USA users (rough, all I found)
76 - 80 USA users (in progress)

I've been going down the 1001 albums list and copying albums to my lists, and looking for fills. The Jotka Jokaisen list seems to be better in terms of matching the original album. Thanks to the authors of those lists for all their hard work.

I plan to break the lists up as needed to keep them from becoming unwieldly. Huge playlists may look impressive, but they are a royal pain to work with, and you can't scroll them in any useful way, because barely nudging the mouse jumps 500 tracks.

Today I made a Soundrop listening room titled Folk Revival. I described it as, "Primarily artists of the folk music revival of the 1960's, centered in New York City's Greenwich Village but elsewhere too, with their forerunners and successors." I made it collaborative, so people not only can listen and rate songs, but they can add songs, too. So far I have only one track per artist, but I suppose I will add more in time.
