Musical instruments from around the world

I was listening to some of the mixtapes I've made over the last year or so and one of them has a song from the album 'Edges of Twilight" by The Tea Party. Thinking about The Tea Party again (I used to be an avid Tea Party fan), I googled them and came across this very interesting youtube video about all different kinds of instruments The Tea Party used in Edges. (This diverse use of exotic instruments is what initially drew me to them.) I found this video really interesting, entertaining and informative - thought perhaps some other emusers would enjoy it, too.

Here's the link

Amazing.

  • It just now dawned on me that the band's name might imply something political - I didn't see that earlier! However, this band is from the '90s - way before the other "tea party". Anyway - the video is well worth checking out for an interesting discussion and demonstration of a variety of exotic instruments.
  • That was a very cool video, thanks. I have never heard of them, but plan on finding an album of two. Recommendations?

@Plong42, definitely "The Edge of Twilight" is the album to check out. "Splendor Solis" is good, too, but Edge is their masterpiece. If you listen to the album, take special note of the track "Sister Awake." It's amazing.

The album "Transmission" is much heavier rock than the others. "Edge of Twilight" is more Eastern influenced. "Tryptic" is another pretty good album (although some die-hard Tea Party fans accused them of 'selling out' with the release of that one. It is a little more accessible. Best track on that album, IMO, is an incredibly good cover of the song "The Messenger." I still play that track very, very often.
  • Watching now - sounds great!

Fascinating Kez, thanks. I admit I did not know the band. When I read your first input I did think you were getting quite political!!
