Dream Theater Fans? Need a Rec.

edited February 2012 in General
So I could use a Dream Theater rec and their discography being substantial, where do I best get my toes wet? There's Greatest Hit (and 21 other pretty cool songs) for a fairly good price at eMu but the rap against is that it doesn't have their best efforts - the gargantuan long songs - besides that their albums are often pieces of sorts. I'm also eying Live At Budokan since that's got a bunch of longer ones, and at 2:45 should be a good sampling. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Funnily enough I have a ton of stuff from other projects involving Dream Theater members, especially Mike Portnoy, but have never got into DT themselves beyond odd individual tracks. I picked this up for about $5 on emusic to sample their songs, though it's a live album....and I see that it has disappeared from emusic along with the rest of their catalog. (On Amazon it does include a live version of a 40+ minute epic for 99c.)
