In its July issue Songlines, the World Music magazine, has published its definitive list of the top 25 Mali albums. Unfortunately I cannot copy the article as it is only available online with a digital subscription but there is a good podcast on this list available from iTunes.

Well, I picked up Mali Koura, number 18 on the list, and while I like it, I think I would at first listen maybe rank Tassoumakan or Issa Remixed ahead of it as Issa Bagayogo's entry on the list. But I need to hear it a few more times.
