I thought I'd add a picture of
about 10 to 15% of my collection
It's impressive, but what really matters is where the remaining 85% is stored - in your expansive climate-controlled library addition, a rented self-storage unit out by the interstate, or your mom's basement.
Actually, they're in many locations in the house.
I have a wall of music just behind me in this office.
I'm getting ready tho to turn those bookcases back
into something that actually houses books because
those have taken over my life(space) as well! Yeah,
Titanic deck chairs and all that...
Just noticed that my office wall calendar indicates that on this day in history that "Columbia Records unviels its new 33 1/3 rpm record 1948"
Found this rather long but interesting read: History of the Record Industry, 1920— 1950s Part Two: Independent labels, Radio, and the Battle of the Speeds >>>>>>>>> Columbia wasn’t going to let RCA Victor’s rejection derail the unveiling of the LP. They officially released it on June 18, 1948 with a press conference wherein Wallerstein stood beside a 10-foot-high stack of 78s, holding a foot of LPs which he said contained just as much music. >>>>>>>>>
My lovely wife had this wallpaper specially made for me from images of my favourite album covers! You'll see Spirit, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Leonard Cohen, Santana and many others.
