Instead of trying to post all my purchases on a month to month basis, I am going to keep up a seasonal list that I update on a rolling basis. Hopefully this can jumpstart this lapsed tradition.

    BT thanks for posting this, I liked this tradition too. I don't know if this counts as a jumpstart - maybe a lurch-slowly-into-motionstart. Here's my curated roundup for the first four months of 2014 (based on itunes add date so its conceivable that some of the free things lurked as zip files left over from last year...).     There have been some bulk free drops in the last few months.
    I downloaded lots of De La Soul and liked very little of it (I kept 3 feet high and rising)
    I downloaded lots of Steve Coleman and liked a reasonable amount of it.
    I downloaded lots and lots of Flaming Pines giveaways (15 albums) and liked practically all of it, especially the Birds of a Feather series.

    edit Sept 13- Well, I've started adding in the album's rating and I guess those ratings really come down to 4 things. Something I'd be glad to never hear again (2), Something I wouldn't mind if I never heard it (again} (3), Something I hope to hear again (4) and Something I just have to hear again (5*****)
    I should mention that I'm not much of an "album listener". I prefer to have a rotation on random play and love to be surprised by what makes my ears perk up. Not all the albums listed have gone through the rotation, so may not be rated yet (somehow i forgot to drop BIG RED! into the rotation). The track numbers listed were all tracks that I must hear again.

    In 2005 I produced a series called "The Haunted Cobblestone Sunset Concert Series.”
    Although I had begun to use field recordings in my life performances and on the mudboy albums, I now wanted to create a situation in which live, unrecorded, and unpredictable sounds could be layered onto the arc of a live performance. The Haunted Cobblestone series was, accordingly, a ten- part performance series in which invited musicians improvised live out of an open window. The musicians could not be seen by the audience, which was seated on the street below where it would be confronted with passing cars, playing children, and neighboring songbirds. Each performance would begin in the early evening one hour before sunset, so that its final moments would coincide with those of the setting sun.
    Musical elements included acoustic accordion activity triggered samples and looped guitar,
    to an 9-11 anniversary performance which featured the occasional burst of AK47 gunfire at actual volume ricocheting down the street, accompanied by the live sound of a sledgehammer dismantling a handful of electronics and furniture.
