YLT's Popular Songs

Any thoughts on the new YLT (not available over yonder, yet)? I have to admit that the first 2 tracks have me a bit stymied. They are probably the first songs of theirs that I've ever listened to and felt that it wasn't Yo La Tengo at all. The album really starts to pick up around track 4 and the closing jams are incredible. But so far it feels odd to me - like the tracklisting was totally screwed up or something.

    I'm a bit confused by it too. My biggest question is why they put all three jams at the end. I prefer to have them spread out some, and I think having one at the beginning would answer your issue with it not feeling like it was Yo La Tengo.

    It's still too early for me to make too much of a judgment on the album as a whole, but my initial impressions are that it is maybe a bit too mellow for me at the beginning. That said, Periodically Double or Triple is a great song.
