Rediscovery reloaded
Those splendid people at Rediscovery Classics (http://www.rediscovery.us/) have revamped their website and now most of their beautifully-restored fifties recordings are downloadable for US$4 or 5 a pop. I've been listening to Sondra Bianca's Schumann, which manages to combine a formidable technique with a lightness of touch that draws your attention away from the notes to the music.
They have also expanded their free 'paperback classics' section. I've already raved about Fou Ts'ong's early Mozart concertos available there. I've also been enjoying an album of Bach organ music recorded by Michael Schneider. Their restorations, many from reel-to-reel tape, are marvels of patience, and these early stereo recordings shine like new.
Off you go! And spend recklessly - these are the good guys.
