Can you do me an Amie Street favor?

edited March 2010 in General
Can y'all that have twitter do me an easy favor? Can you tweet @AmieStreet and let them know that you'd like all the new music to be released at midnight EST tonight? (I think you can also let them know by replying to them on facebook.)

They're asking for input. They seem to be considering releasing things really early in the morning at sporadic intervals. This'll make it much harder to get the best new releases for the best price.

Thanks, everybody!

  • I've already let them know I prefer the morning. Sorry, but I can rarely stay up 'til midnight - which means I often don't see any of the big new releases until they've been out for 6 or 7 hours. Last Tuesday and the Warp drop on Friday were my best hauls in awhile.
  • I'm with thom. Sorry Daytripper, but some of us need sleep!

  • Plus a couple times when I did stay up for the midnight release, they had major problems and the albums didn't drop until 3 or 4 AM.
  • Yeah, most of the times I've stayed up till midnight the better releases ended up dropping a couple of hours late, after I gave up. I prefer the morning myself. Makes it more of a crapshoot for everybody, but I'll take my chances.
  • Morning releases mean they come out at 5am on the west coast. That is so much worse than midnight on the east coast.
  • I'm up by 6 AM. 5 wouldn't be a big deal for me. At least then things are only out for an hour or so. When things go wrong at midnight (which happens a lot) nothing gets fixed until 3 or 4 and then I'm out a couple hours of sleep and still don't get the good deals.
  • twit says: New Titus Andronicus starting for FREE at 12AM EST http://bit.ly/4yC3PB (US only) stay tuned for more release time announcements ... #MM
  • Yeah I saw that. Guess I'll just hope that they screw up the releases like usual...

I'm on the east coast, but my first log-in is usually around 7:00 am, before getting the kids up, then again around 8:30 after I get to work. I can't stay up till midnight or later much anymore, at least not during the week, so morning releases work better for me.

Worse for who? Given my schedule, I have virtually no shot at getting the new releases if they come out at or around midnight. Most of those I snag are mid-day releases when I just happen to check in from work. If the Tuesday releases came in the morning, I'd have a shot to get them free, or at least cheap. Not that I'm complaining, but West Coasters have had a huge advantage getting the new releases at 9:00 pm on Monday.
  • The release schedule and rapid increase to 9.99 for new popular albums are two reasons why Amiestreet will never become my main source of music. Not to mention accidentally downloading the occasional Crimson Razorback album or two.

Still it does have a place for the occasional random cheap download.
