Playlist surprises!

edited April 2010 in General
I love me some iTunes smart playlists.

Got a CD from the library a few years ago that had sound effects on it, listened to a few, and forgot it. A while back on the emu boards, I got a Fresh Mix playlist idea from another subscriber, and I totally love it. This Fersh Mix takes a portion of your known faves, and mixes it with less recently played selections.

These random sound effects are being thrown into my list while I'm at work. (From the never played aspect of the smart playlist, no doubt)

Erotic moaning, cat eating, smashing an LP to pieces, nibbling by a big dog, whinnying of a donkey, Whiplashes (slowly).

The first time one of these came up, I was shocked. Annoyed. Irritated. Dammit, when I got home I was going to uncheck this entire album!

After 'suffering' through a dozen or so of these at work, I did a 180 and now it is no end of fun to try and figure out what that sound is.....and now I'm sad, because after I listen to all the 200 sound effects, they won't pop up so much.

Anyhoo....it was a great, unexpected surprise that I ended up embracing.

  • katrina is OTM. i've really learned to appreciate smart playlists and comments/tags since i switched my ipod from "automatically loading all music on my external drive" to "manually loading only what music i want from my external drive." now, when i download a new compilation, i add the label name to the "comment" section, and when i want, i'll later create a smart playlist around that label, e.g., "Soundway Recordings." smart playlists also allow me to drag an artist's entire discography to my ipod, without cluttering up my ipod with the other 1.4K discs i have downloaded.
