The 2 (non-Classical) genres that Sweden seems to excel in are sunny, Summery pop and Death metal.

What does that say?

    death metal= northern Sweden= more than 7 months of winter
    and
    Summery pop= southern Sweden= 2 months of winter and more than 4 months of summer?
  • On the summery pop, don't forget the influence of being surrounded by Swedish girls.

    It says you don't know about the very vivid prog scene from the 70'th (Michael Viehe, Hoola Bandoola Band etc) and the 80'th with bands like Tant Strul, Blue For Two, Union Carbide Productions, Th
  • Say, aren't there some Nyckelharpor kicking around Minnesota?
  • There are indeed. In fact, The Replacements started as a traditional Swedish band until Bob Stinson traded in his Nyckelharpor for a guitar. If he hadn't done that the music scene would be much different today.

  • Well.. The headquarters for Northside Records used to be about 6 blocks from my house.
