Wow, that's a lot of music. I feel better about my own list now. I'm gonna be simplistic and list things alphabetically by source. This cost me roughly $50 (and many, many hours of my time). Thanks to all who made recommendations in the Amie Street and Guvera threads -- I couldn't have done it without you. Maybe someday I'll have time to listen to everything.

    Amie Street

Badvibes: You Know the Deal – Live
    Bardo Pond: Dilate, Amanita
    Belleruche: Turntable Soul Music
    Charlatans UK: Who We Touch
    The Chevelles: assorted tracks
The Contrast: Forgot to Tell the Time, assorted tracks
    Deleted Waveform Gatherings: Baby Warfare
    Ellis Ashbrook: s/t
    Fela Kuti: Na Poi, Zombie
Grant McLennan: In Your Bright Ray
Ike Reilly: Poison the Hit Parade
    Interpol: s/t
I Tell You What: What Would You Do?
Joe Louis Walker: The Gift, Blue Soul
Love & Rockets: Sorted: The Best of
Luke Doucet: Blood’s Too Rich, Outlaws (Live + Unreleased)

Red Guitar: Beauty Will Save the World
Robyn Hitchcock: Sex, Food, Death… and Tarantulas
    Seth Swirsky: Instant Pleasure
Shake Some Action: Fire and Ice
    The Speedies: Speedy Delivery
Super Furry Animals: Songbook Vol. 1
    Tiny Animals: Sweet Sweetness

    Other places

    Richard Thompson: Dream Attic (eMusic)
Treat Her Right: The Lost Album (eMusic)
David Bowie: Station to Station (Deluxe) (Amazon)

Plus assorted tracks to complete Guvera albums -- and a couple of Amie Street albums with defective tracks -- from eMusic (first choice), Amazon (second choice) and iTunes (last resort). I think that’s everything.

My last purchase at Amie Street was two Robyn Hitchcock tracks from Spooked. I think I left 15 cents on the table.
  • That simply is astounding, and I like to limit my next wave of consumption until I've consumed a grand portion of this Guvera craziness. While I got a few not mentioned here from Society of Sound and my monthly grab from Limewire, here's my Guvera intake that will alienate me from my family and peers (not counting a few albums of "Why did I think I would even remotely like that pile of dung dressed up as a song?" :

Ben Harper: White Lies for Dark Times
    Donald Byrd: Cat Walk
Herbie Hancock (3) : Inventions and Dimensions, Maiden Voyage, Empyrean Isles

So yeah, rejoining eMusic, Amie Street closing, and the great Guvera giveaway led me to get as many albums last month as would normally take a year. I cut out the individual tracks and put albums from the same artist together and it's still around 140 lines. Yes, I have multiple accounts you know where. Listening to all of this straight through would take me almost 8 hours... and a week. And yet I still see things I missed on other people's lists. Le sigh.

It was fun and thanks for all the recs, but hopefully I'll be cutting back the rest of the year so this can all be heard.

  • wow, I really (really really really) missed out with the Guvera thing. I think I only managed about 20 tracks. Would have loved to picked up the McCartney and early Floyd stuff, at the very minimum.
  • OK, here's mine. This is all Guvera...about 450 tracks in the 2 weeks of the promo. It was mostly old Blue Note jazz (in chrono order):

Nat King Cole Trio, Instrumental Classics (on Capitol)
Herbie Nichols, Complete Blue Note Recordings
Kenny Dorham, Complete 'Round About Midnight
    Thad Jones, Detroit-New York Junction
    Curtis Fuller, The Opener
    Lee Morgan Sextet Vol 2
    Art Blakey, Moanin'
    Cannonball Adderley/Miles Davis, Somethin' Else
    Lou Donaldson, Blues Walk
    Lou Donaldson, Lou Takes off
    Sonny Clark, Cool Struttin'
    Hank Mobley/Lee Morgan, Peckin' Time
    Hank Mobley, Soul Station
    Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley
Dexter Gordon, Our Man in Paris
    Grant Green, Idle Moments

    Pop/other things:
    John Lennon, Lennon Legend
    Culture, International herb
    The Feelies, Crazy Rhythm
The dB's, Stands for Decibels and Repercussion
    XTC, Skylarking
Linda Ronstadt/Ann Savoy, Adieu False Heart
Plus some individual tracks I'd been missing, mostly Beach Boys and Roxy Music

Wow, that's crazy, now that I look at it. Thanks to all for good rec's…I'm particularly excited about my new Larry Young and Lee Morgan collections. Added to previous purchases, I now have big chunks of the recorded output of Joe Henderson and Bobby Hutcherson.

I was pretty much done with Amie before they went down, though I did DL a bunch of previous purchases. Really only a few things I'm interested in, though there were some nice surprises. It may be a while before those get added to the library.
