Krips

edited December 2010 in General
Someone posted about Beethoven's Complete 9 Symphonies by Josef Krips and the London Symphony Orchestra over at eMu, $5.99. Does anyone remember if that's the one that was on ?Amie this year? I downloaded something but it was consigned to the hard drive at home immediately because of space necessity.

    Why so serious?

It's on Gramercy, so it likely was available at Amie.

This may be one of my favorite eMusic reviews ever:

  • That's it. I was actually listening to it for awhile last night.

They are also my nine favorite symphonies by Beethoven.

  • He didn't go to 11?
  • I've always consider the first nine to be over-the-top, mewling, arch, self-concious displays of sensitivity on parade by an over-rated dilettante, especially the one with the choir.

That said, he did got better later on....
  • Yep, the Krips was the one - I think it was either free or dirt cheap on Amie at the the time - made a foray into the hard drive, also to retrieve some Xmas music for the season.
