I believe so. Small world and all that. I'll be up for a free bus pass this time. Only trouble is there isn't anywhere really to go on the main island except from Kirkwall to either Stromness or St Margaret's Hope. Still the journey itself has some wonderful scenary.
  • Not a sale but another Bandcamp special

Next Friday, June 17th (from midnight to midnight Pacific Time), we’re holding our third annual Juneteenth fundraiser, where we donate 100% of our share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a racial justice organization with a long history of effectively enacting change through litigation, advocacy, and public education. Please read our statement here.
  • The debut album by Scanner for the DiN label, An Ascent (DiN63), has 25% off in the DiN Bandcamp store for the month of June. There are also only 3 copies left of the beautiful Giclée print by artist Wendy Carroll which have been reduced in price to £40 for the print & £45 for the CD bundle which includes the print & a signed CD by Robin Rimbaud (Scanner).

Pi Recordings has a sale and a donation for Juneteenth https://pirecordings.bandcamp.com/

Pi Recordings is offering a 25% discount on its whole catalog with the discount code: juneteenth2022, and will make a donation to a local New York City organization. This year a portion of proceeds from all sales will go to Arts for Art, the presenters of the Vision Festival. https://www.artsforart.org/
  • Parking this here as I didn't want to start another thread.
Just to say that ECM are now up to 82 releases on Bandcamp. That's not bad, but it's mainly their ultra-core catalogue. What isn't so wonderful is the stingy 1 track streams and the not so friendly €14.99 price for music that has been paid for over and over. Fair enough for new releases but 40 year old back catalogue?

  • the not so friendly €14.99 price for music that has been paid for over and over

Totally agree djh. At a lower price point I'd have downloaded a couple of albums. With conversion rates being what they are and £2.50 added by my credit card company those two albums would have cost me over £30. I could actually buy the CDs cheaper on Amazon and get free delivery by tomorrow

I've just checked Presto for cds and downloads. The selection is much wider but again the price is off putting. It reminds me that quite a lot of ECM cds that I own were actually bought as second hand review copies.

Makes me very glad that the main thing I used Guvera for back in the day was to load up on ECM back catalogue.
  • I call this the "You want the f*ckin music, buy the f*ckin CD" pricing strategy

There is still no link to it from their main site. Which to me, at least, feels somewhat fishy.

Very cool. In light of the sale, I'll plug this mammoth, inventive, unpredictable and wide-ranging set from pianist Matt Mitchell and drummer Kate Gentile, with lots of guests: https://mattmitchellkategentile.bandcamp.com/album/snark-horse-box-set

I clicked around a bunch out of curiosity for what such a large, fancy catalog would cost as a whole but couldn't find a link.  Usually if there's a full-catalog discount it appears on the page of any release, no?

Yes. Not all labels do a catalogue deal.

Pi has almost 100 albums on BandCamp. With most Pi releases going for $12 any all discography deal is going to approach $1000. Not likely to be many buyers for that. ECM has 80 releases on Bandcamp (only a small proportion of the total catalogue) and that would easily be over $1000. Other than Greenleaf, Ropeadope and Jazz in Britain which have subscription deals, I don't know of many jazz labels that have discography deals, though there are a number of artsts that do (most of the Smoke Session label artists have some deal, for example).
  • Yup. So, maybe we should rephrase the original to:

"Pi Recordings is offering a 25% discount on individual items in its catalog..."

Also, Canary Records is offering a subscription sign up that looks good
if you're as interested in their catalog as much as I am.

I've probably said this before but the Canary Records chap reminds me very much of the radio show and cd series The Secret Museum of Mankind (on Shanachie Records) by Pat Conte / Citizen Kafka.
  • Yeah, I think Pat Conte and Ian Nagoski are extremely interesting people.
  • I have found a jazz label that offers their whole discography. Jazz in Britain has all 28 albums for £109. They also have a subscription plan for £28 per year. https://jazzinbritain.co.uk/ You need to select one of the albums to find the whole discography offer.
  • It’s already down to under £104. Some choice albums there.

Deffo quality material there and a great resource as long as you remember that some releases are fairly short and that some originate from private recordings not originally intended for commercial release. I haven't heard anything poor but maybe be aware if considering the deal. Personally I pick and chose.
  • Lost Tribe Sound is setting a bunch of their back catalog to $3/DL and $12/vinyl.
Not quite a flash sale but also not not a flash sale.
