The emu forum: What I'm currently laughing about

edited November 2010 in General
I can't help but laugh every time I see this small string of emails on one of the emu threads. I actually went back today just so I could read it again.

in the terms of service it is disclosed that the money left over does not roll over, but i don't know why emusic will not will not do this. ITUNES LETS YOU KEEP MONIES IN AN ACCOUNT! emusic should invest in some accounting software ,ITUNES LETS YOU KEEP MONIES IN AN ACCOUNT!.emusic policy of not rolling over moneies left over ,will cost them customers .

I get it. ITUNES IS LETTING YOU KEEP MONIES IN AN ACCOUNT.

Right?

Not sure exactly the reason for it, but I get reduced to tears each time I read through it.

It comes from this thread...

  • I think it's because using the plural form of money is always fun.
  • So wait...suppose you have, like, some monies, and you go to iTunes and put them in an account. What happens then?

I actually have an iTunes account with about 0.79 monies in it.
  • The contents of "EMUSIC RIPS YOU OFF!!!" annoys me, but I wish I could hear the title said in the Yakov Smirnoff voice.
  • I've always wondered when to use the plural "monies" - the Brits use the term but we generally don't.

Does the plural kick in when the amount is over a certain amount, the money sits in some sort of account or treasury to be disbursed, or comes from a combination of sources, i.e., if I have one 20 a quid note in my pocket, do I have money in my pocket, but if I go to an ATM and get another 20 quid note out of the machine and put that in my pocket, now do I have monies in my pocket?

Is it some sort of derivative of the royal we?

Am I just being a daft cheeky twit?
  • IN SOVIET RUSSIA, EMUSIC RIPS OFF YOU!!!!
  • I've noticed lawyers like to use "monies" also - any elucidation from the accused?

ITUNES LETS YOU KEEP MONIES IN AN ACCOUNT comes from the situation when one has purchased both the Tommy James and the Shondells, and the Billy Idol version of "Mony Mony".
  • Personally I love "Oh goody, another post from Panderer". But Wandy's new motto sums up just how pathetic he is: "I come not to praise emusic, but to damn some of its members."
  • I was just happy to shoot down his 'research.'
  • Surely itunes only lets you keep money (or should it be monies?) in an account if you overpay. Well, I've never overpaid, but what does that tell you about people who do???
  • Lots of people fund their iTunes accts via gift cards. Including me...I get them as perks from Office Depot. I can personally vouch that for kids aged 9 and up, iTunes cards are the go-to gift for birthdays, etc. My daughter at one point recently had 40 or 50 bucks sitting in her account.
  • Point taken! I've bought my niece one a few days ago for Christmas, so I should have known. Not sure whether or not that applies to the 'person' in the thread!
  • Just goes to show, on the internet you never know who really IS a whiny little girl :-)
  • i can barely take the emusic message boards anymore, i'm sad to say.

Yes, they are pretty bad right now.
  • They must be pretty bad, then - you've been contributing a bit of sanity to some of those howler threads i look at now & then.
  • you mean me or jonah?
  • you mean me or jonah?

Probably you. I'm more of a taker than a giver of sanity.
  • well, that's very kind of you to say, katrina.
  • A cross-post doen't happen here often! Yes, I meant you, Daniel Esq.
