You can't copyright mastering. I post on a message board with someone associated with Uptown records and they've had their releases duped and I was told they couldn't have used that angle to gain protection. These Byrd recordings are public domain i…

Pssst...for you out of USers. I used this site while on vacation and made several purchases at Amie with no problem: http://www.proxywebsite.org/ It's a little slower surfing through there, b…

Yeah, the Jamal Mosaic set has been in the works for like two years. There's at least one or two more, but I can't remember them. The cynical part of me wonders if Mosaic isn't in trouble and just won't admit it, based solely off their seeming reluc…

Damn, I must have caught an off night/tour as Mould was one of the most disappointing shows for me. This was when he was out for his first album on YepRoc (a good record) and it was just him and his guitar, nothing more. The whole thing was just dul…

Ahh, that's why. I don't participate in that board any longer.
-
Yeah, how'd I not see Savoy add earlier? Looks like they bought the rights to the Muse catalog as well, which is awesome.
-
You're not missing much. They aren't so much rewards as they are the kind of offers you'd get as spam if you forget to uncheck the box that says "please send me special offers from other retailers" when you're signing up for a corporate mailing list…

Meh.

RE: Kind of Blue "remaster". Considering that's a public domain label, they don't have access to the master to remaster from. You'd be better off with the official Sony release, me thinks.

Oh and we shouldn't be US only. I'd say I'll try to fix that, but I've been waiting since November for those to post so it's not bloody likely. We're on eMu as well.

Yeah, on last.fm, we're at war with fans of a J-Pop singer named Yuki. We feel there's room to share the page. No one is going to confuse one with the other. They don't agree.
& thanks froggie. Google pony play and you're not too far… -
Don't tell my wife! She won't let me get a Vespa because she's convinced I'll kill myself on it.
Hope you are ok. -
thom, I'm looking forward to the Xbox Live release of Perfect Dark. Don't know if you have a 360, but that's going to be HUGE!
-
Maybe the big thing is the end of the tuneCore dump finally?
-
Pretty much anything Charlie Parker on Savoy is going to do you right.
-
Naked City tends to be my favorite Zorn project. What a great band!
-
Different organ player. Not at eMu tho...

What's up with all the ringtones?
-
Weeeellll, the major label stuff isn't exactly on sale. It's 12 credits for >12 tracks. Nice fudge there eMusic.

I have to admit, the Warner drop sucked me back in.

Apple bought Lala recently, but they didn't start it.

I saw that too. As it started, I wondered how long it would take before I'd hear some over the top melisma. Barely had time to complete the thought and there it was.
-
Well, I won't ruin it for you. Like you, I find board dynamics interesting. Probably why I still read that one. There is still some good info there, it's just that the signal to noise ratio is a little out of whack these days.

^ Pretty much.
I wouldn't sweat it too much really. Unless you are the kind of person who listens to the sound of the music rather than the music itself, I think you'll be ok with any recent issue. Most of the old ones aren't too bad eit… -
Good point, but trust me on the Rollins. I've owned both. I'm not a double dipper, but it's one of two I can think of where the RVG was a huge upgrade from the standard. (The other being "Birth of the Cool.) The old version sounded like a bootleg ca…

My favorite is two Elvin Jones albums on Atlantic that have the exact same tracks with different names. The kicker is, I don't think either of them are right, though I don't know who it actually is.
-
RE: Rollins. I'd hold out for the RVG of the Village Vanguard tracks. They still don't sound awesome, but there's a huge improvement over the old version (which I assume is in that box.)

I'm much more irritated by the flood of Freddie K than I am by genre mislabeling. Amie St. ought to cap the number of releases one person can make in a month.
