i'm sure they'll get around to giving it an editor's-pick designation. i think i've seen some of the writers mention it as a great album (and some big publication just named it as the best rock album of the past 25 years). i thin… -
yeah, the impact of the new price-structure on some of the titles from the premier reissue labels has been v. good.
-
other shows i've never seen (at least not one full episode): survivor; american idol; ER; CSI; the office; 30 rock.
-
i've never seen glee.
-
kool dj dust's the disco opera, which i've wanted for years, went down in price. it was 19 credits (which, even assuming a .40/track pr…

from what i can see, it compares very favorably to amazon.com.

i don't know, but as i said upthread, i'm inclined to believe emusic. but from the NYT article, i think more than anything, emusic was perhaps a victim of its own negotiating success.
and mommio, it is old, but (a) it's amazing, (b) it'… -
i think we need a thread for good prices on all this new stuff. my head hurts from even a cursory scan of it.

holy hell, talk talk's laughing stock -- really, truly one of the great (post-) rock albums ever -- is $2.95!
-
jazz additions look massive. grab some alice coltrane for $4.50/disc.
-
thanks, paul.
i've only scanned a little, and mostly older stuff. prices look surprisingly good, overall. what's your impression? -
are there hubs or new editorials to help sort all this stuff out?
-
but who knows, thom? you may be right.

this just smacks of unsavory tactics i've seen in other contexts. i was instantly suspicious when i read the tenor and vibe of those (very similar) label statements.
-
what you're seeing, i think, is some pretty hardball -- and frankly unseemly -- actions by these labels. here's why, in part: they protect the specifics of their deals, and the negotiations leading up to them, behind confidentiality walls, and of c…

nah. my guess is that the statements by these two labels were distorted, and emusic had to address the issue more deeply. what the emusic ceo and what the labels said yesterday can't both be true, and since the statements were is… -
Aaaaannnnnndddd, they're back.

just returned from ohio trip. how long has that "site maintenance" page been up?

i wish there was a way to test this. maybe an analysis of the attrition rates for emusic's subscriber base, plus an analysis of the artist… -

i don't know. it's really strange. i mean, i'm sure all of us see corporate statements all the time that don't seem to have the ring of truth; but that's usually a matter of interpretation. but here, the statements from the lab… -
