No new credits for me.

I canceled after the UMG addition, and they made me the same offer. I did likewise, took the free month in December and then canceled again. I only left two cents on the table, though.

Good quote from Duck Dunn: "You listen to one playback [in the studio] and think, that's not it, I'll play half of what I'm doing and it'll be right. Cut it in half and I'm there." That idea is lost on some, but just because you can shred doesn't …

True, but Jaco was a freak. He never lost that bump.
Pow - Larry Graham and Graham Central Station. Pow indeed. -
All American Alien Boy - Ian Hunter with some guy named Jaco on bass.

This is a thread I can get behind. I started playing bass around ten years ago, in my 30s, and one of the great things about that was going back to songs I've heard a million times and just focusing on the bass lines.
The Real Me is one…Mick Karn. A true innovator on the fretless bass. Best known for his work with Japan, but did session work with Kate Bush, Gary Numan, Peter Murphy, and many others. …Elvis Costello, Live at Hollywood High.Good idea BigD. I mentioned it in the Amazon thread but given the volume of stuff on sale a dedicated thread makes sense.
in Amazon 1000 $5 Sale Comment by Muggsy December 2010Thru the end of January, Amazon has more than 1000 download albums for $5 each in Amazon Daily mp3 Download Deals Comment by Muggsy December 2010I had that happen once with 7Digital, sent CS an e-mail and they fixed it for me. I've also had good customer service experiences with Amazon when I've had DL issues. The only service from which I've experienced routinely crappy CS is eMusic, but …I remember Grant Lee Phillips occasionally popping up on Gilmore Girls, which was what first got my attention when my wife used to watch it. I ended up really enjoying that show.
One of the best live shows I ever saw was Grant Lee Buffa…It's a screaming deal. I picked up five CDs (including one CD/DVD set) for $22 shipped. Deals like that make me pretty sure I won't miss eMusic. Burned through my free month credits and quit yesterday. Thanks for the tip on the CD sale, I just picked up a bunch of them. Goodbye Killer was the first one I've heard and I actually liked it a lot. If that one sucked, I can't wait to hear the others.Sway is great. I'd add (or second, or third, as appropriate):
Can't You Hear Me Knocking (not exactly obscure, but you don't hear it much)
Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing in the Shadow (same)
Prodigal Son
No E…I was also in my senior year of HS, and heard the news on Monday Night Football. Can't really describe my feelings, just sad and empty.I saw the reunited Gang of Four on tour a few years ago in DC, with what I believe to be the same lineup they have now, and it was a tremendous show. I'm on board to check out the new stuff.
in The Future of Physical-Music Retailing? Comment by Muggsy December 2010I own three on the Rough Trade list (Arcade Fire, Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse, and Field Music). Liked Field Music, wasn't overly impressed with Dark Night of the Soul but need to give it a couple more listens. Haven't listened to Arcad…Interesting. I haven't heard any of your top ten or four of the five honorable mentions (only Les Savy Fav, which I like). There goes my indie cred.Nice find on the Webb Wilder. Saw him a few times back in the day, always a good show. I have several on CD, including Hybrid Vigor and It Came From Nashville.
Work hard, rock hard, grow big, wear glasses if you need 'em.Well, I bought one last album tonight (Guitar Romantic by the Exploding Hearts, never heard of 'em but the reviews made it sound like something up my alley). That brought my balance down to $0.11, so I gave my notice to quit. That triggered an aut…I'm gone too. I have one song left to buy with my remaining $0.50, so I need to find a good one. Simply put, the prices aren't good enough to convince me to continue to fund a subscription, which compels me to buy a certain amount every month. I'…It is kinda funny (and predictable, and sad) that the loss of Merge hasn't affected the feature articles yet. Here's a nice retrospective on Superchu…The Allen Toussaint box is bargain priced elsewhere too, though it's a great set and certainly worth $11. That one reminded me to check pricing on this in Post your inside tips and mispriced box sets right here Comment by Muggsy November 2010As I said on the other board, given the obvious conflict between eMusic's version of recent events and that of the labels in question, I see no reason why anybody would assume eMusic's telling the truth here. It's probably somewhere in the middle, …I'm guessing eMusic would have added UMG even if it knew the move would spur major indies to leave. This has probably been in the works for some time, and they're only announcing it now as the departure deadline approaches and negotiations have fai…(Quote)
Sure, if you're willing to wait two months to finish an album. The Guvera bonanza in September was great, but the flow of credits has slowed to almost nothing these days. I can only imagine how long it would take to finish a box …BigD, thanks for the tip on the Kinks boxes at 7Digital. I got the Arista box, which includes several albums I had on vinyl and never replaced. I listened to that live record a LOT back in the day.
As for Zeppelin, I think they held ou…I just got Keith's autobiography but haven't started it yet. Recently read and really enjoyed "Fargo Rock City" by Chuck Klosterman. 80s hair metal wouldn't seem to be a genre ripe for critical analysis, but the book was very entertaining.
