Harlan County, USA -- doco about Kentucky coal miners strike in early 70s. Amazing footage and topic (won the Doco Oscar for that year), and also has a lot of great, raw Appalachian music from locals and Hazel Dickens. in Video Streaming Recommendations (formerly known as recoomendations) Comment by NankerP November 2010

I always expected them to dump the redownload policy, my WTF was Cathy saying "our redownload policy hasn't changed." Um, yes dearie it really really has.

I'm at a work function and have only had a chance to have a quick squizz on my phone but it appears Stax at least is suddenly no longer available in my region. That's the kind of kick in the guts for me that losing Beggars etc is to others.
Daniel, Esq if the Beggars and Merge statements are disingenous what's your take on the real reason they're leaving? Taking their bat and ball home because they don't have the whole field to themselves anymore?Well now I feel sorry for Cathy cos Adam Klein has put up some blather on 17 Dots but has closed comments, so now her message board post alerting us to Klein's post will instigate another massive pile on. Take your own damn comments, Klein!Mel Gibson was born in America. I rest my case.
I'll do an 8track tonight, good idea brittleblood! Actually Joe Pug gives away his music free if you ask him and give it to friends:

You know who I feel sorry for in all this? jedwardk(Quote)
Me, because of the aforementioned lack of other options outside the US and like elwoodicious it's still the only one you can rummage through and find the treasures. The leaving of these labels doesn't affect me personally in that…No thom not in Australia.
Bandit FM, a Sony-owned store until recently (launched earlier this year in march or something) subscription plans which was $16 a month for $40 worth of music, minimum upfront payment for 3 months. Prices and …I see the theory on the other boards is they postponed it because of the Apple announcement. I'm dubious, what could iTunes announce that would affect this? eMusic has already made its announcement, this is just the administrative implementation…And that's exactly why I use the ethical argument not the legal one, to avoid the "but they aren't illegal" quagmire that always comes up. The fact is, no money is going to the artists and I personally feel if you must download illegally it's bette…Ethically, I actually think downloading from P2P is better than the Russian sites, for the reason that giving no one money is better than giving money to people who aren't entitled to it and are cynically exploiting loopholes to get it (ie. I don't …This includes September and October, and includes a couple of boosters:
Hallelujahland - American Graveyard - new honky tonk country rock. I get the Americana charts every week and this was a new addition last week, plus it has a Parenta…Poor puppy!!Heh, indeed I am what we call a Dylan Tragic however there are many 3 month blocks where I barely listen to him at all, and then I'll listen obsessively for a while. This past 3 month has seen a spike because I discovered a bootleg of the Toronto (…Since my last contribution to this thread above, I have become a rabid convert to auto managing my iPhone - largely so it scrobbles to last fm more easily. I have a Recently Added smart playlist which is everything from the previous fortnight (mos…Oh sorry. Bukka White, yes. I was just browsing Mance on eMusic and got myself confused. We regret the error.Oh and I just did their pointless survey. When it asked what would be most likely to keep me at eMusic I was tempted to tick "Bigger catalog of music" because I would be thinking of, say, more Rounder titles or other country/folk/jazz/international…I got the same email Cafreema quoted in the first post except the opening sentence:

Hey thanks for the unenthusiastic non-sequitur, eMu.
I'm gonna ride eMu to the bitter end since I have so few other options, …I've read it all and still have no idea if it will be good, bad or indifferent for me. Natch, we don't get the Universal stuff so I don't have that carrot so best I can hope for I guess is neutral or bad.
Except to say the prospect of …its late evening on the 30th in Australia, Katrina. We're always ahead of ya. ;-)Thanks JUJ. I got that Gregory Porter you rec'd too last night -- noice!I've read that they currently have a UMG channel promo going on in Australia right now.
Meh, I wish someone would tell me how to get it. Nothing in Channels. Searched a bunch of UMG Aust artists (and EMI Aust just to make sure)…
