No need to relocate - they have regional sites for all sorts of countries. I found Richard Goode's Mozart at about 5 euro a disc on the Irish one. Clearly merits investigation...
EDIT: Actually, the same albums were cheaper on iTunes... -
I'm still buying Hyperion from Qobuz - they are, if anything, cheaper - especially two-disc sets. And their downloader simply works. And they have charming, courteous and prompt customer service. Quid enim abhorrendum? (more Romano).

Tuners don't just tune, they regulate - which is to make sure that the key action is even and properly balanced, that the dampers fall true and smartly, the pedals work silently (an impossibility on my old Broadwood!) and so forth. These are not ski…

Not only are Hyperion on offer, but they are on offer as lossless downloads - with albums at 10 euro and double albums at 16!
I, for one, am heading over there to pick up the Ibragimova Bach violin sonatas and partitas. -
And now qobuz is offering lossless downloads for the price that everyone else is charging for mp3.
The link to the story is half way down the page, but I thought I'd give the main page link, as it gives you a flavour of the site - covera… -
DG are legendary for that. I am one of the people who got the complete recordings of Herman Prey for 10 euro before they spotted that one!
Their online shop is offiering it for 90 euro in lossless. in iTunes Canada goof? Comment by RonanM October 2009 -
martyna - you're very welcome. Write to Bissie and tell him to record the Grief - I did! I think it's an astonishing work. He's robert@bis.se

I'll start then, with Suk's Asrael symphony. Written on the death of his teacher, Dvorak, who was a father figure to him, and then the death of his wife Otilka, who was Dvorak's daughter. The symphony turned Suk from a composer of charming lyrical m…

cafreema - you might start supporting BIS, but if there is a catalogue that opens like a box of treasures, it's theirs. You could easily get hooked.

I blog because I love music, and I want to make more widely available some of the wonderful recordings that I have made from radio, or which friends have made.

Imagine! So do I. Mine is a sort of nidus where I post radio recordings I like, mostly pianists. A wonderful concert by Anna Kractchenko there right now - she's a real reminder of the golden age of pianism, though she's only a youngser.

Someone should tell them - they are shooting themselves in the foot here! I would have qualms about downloading any of their stuff, given the very poor tagging and quality control shown in their freebies.

I don't know - I tried using XLD to change the format, checked the metadata to see if they had wrong start or end times, nothing worked. Looks like hideously corrupt data to me. They won't play even in the Mac's native preview mode. Real nuisance if…

Forget the Schubert. I downloaded it and the tracks are full of errors, including skips and endless repeats. Rubbish. Alas - because some of the playable tracks suggest it was a good cycle.
-
Good grief - they really went and done it - all nine Schubert symphonies. I succumbed to curiosity and downloaded. Sounds good so far - certainly hard to beat at the price!
-
You can grab the Janacek quartets there right now (http://www.classical.com/free-classical-music.php) and Schubert symphonies 1 and 3.

Pnina Becher? Never heard this one. Went to CDBaby (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/pninabbecher) and listened, and the playing sounds awfully wooden - dry and rigid. Does it really sound …

I remember Steven Isserlis giving a masterclass and saying "Some people look at the score and think Now what have I got to say about this piece?. If you don't mind, I don't care what you have to say; I want to hear what Beethoven had to say."…

This album is incredibly cheap to buy on CD - six disks for the price of one. I got it - splendid piano player, I think. But your point's well make - eMu¢ic is discovering new ways of screwing up every day.
