Playing the half dozen tracks I have by Earth, Wind and Fire in memory of Maurice White, currently Let's Grove, so late 70s and early 80s

I admit I've never listened to YMO too. I'll follow up. Coincidence that a few minutes ago I also put on some John Coltrane, for me:

Latest problem over there is that you cannot listen to samples. I had planned to scan through some new jazz releases, too complex to find at emusic, listen at Amazon and then buy from emusic. Another nail.....

@GP. I'm half way through part one. It has certainly made me think, especially in relation to when I was teaching in secondary schools in Peterborough upto the early 1990s. I'm on our…

I think ECM's distributor must be different in Europe from USA, as we can still get ECM albums on emusic, generally 3 or 4 months after release. That might also explain a difference in Spotify between the two markets.

Signed up amc2. I could become very political about how our national government is cutting back on spending to councils like Lancashire. I don't blame the council planning to make the savings here, they are between a rock and a hard place. I could e…

In the last 15 minutes the really heavy rain has reached us. That, we are told, is part of the same weather system that dumped all the snow on the Eastern Seaboard last weekend!

The Social History group of our local U3A (University of the Third Age) is doing a series titled That was the Decade That Was (GP may get the reference, but he might be too young) about the 1960s. I've been asked to do a session on music of the 1960…

Resurrected for dataguy

Data Guy - we did a thread a few years ago about albums that had influenced us. I started it so I ought to be able to find it. I'll resurrect it, you night also find it informative finding out more about us.

GP - one think will you notice in Western Europe is that there has not been much winter so far, really just a wet extension of Autumn. December was the wettest on record here, but also the warmest December too. So things will be green and well a…

Lowlife - yes we did, it was a good game. I think the draw could have been avoided with Lloris in goal instead Vorm, but it was quite entertaining, more so than the games I've seen my team, Man United, play on television. This Sunday I'm going to…
