I think you have to look at the payment issue in context. Not paying your bills is one thing (though I haven't seen any real evidence that this is the root cause of the current problems). But the fact that eMusic, as a discounter, pays less …(Quote)It's available today on Bandcamp. Pretty tasty stuff, too.Definitely the end of an era, though, thankfully, not the end of the club, for which we have her to thank...New releases on the Biophilia label don't show up often on eMusic, but they are often worth the effort to find. Today, Adam O'Farrill's Stranger Days has a new jazz release out and available on eMusic:<…(Quote)The Hilde Marie Holsen album is already available on eMusic (Hubro Records). Pretty interesting stuff, too. Sort of what Jaimie Branch might sound like if she was Norweigan...in Soundcloud, Bandcamp - New / Upcoming Releases, Announcements etc. Comment by soulcoal May 2018
And speaking of live jazz releases, another interesting new one on AUM Fidelity (available on eMusic, and likely a bargain in Europe... a bit of a surprise as the next most recent AUM Fidelity release on eMu is from 2015):It was not available on it's release date (nor even this past Friday), but as of today the "new" (new release of an older live performance) E.S.T. double album, along with a slew of other new ACT Music releases, is up on the eMusic site:<…It's been a good couple weeks for jazz and beyond on eMusic, including this songlines release that actually appeared on it's release date - wonders never cease: (also available on Bandcamp)Yeah, I had the same initial excitement and resulting disappointment re: Pi and had posted it on the eMu Reddit forum. Hopefully someone from eMu will see it and take action - either the content is supposed to be there (e.g. Pi is back) and there …The odd thing about eMu and streaming is that they (a) profess to never be a streaming platform, (b) actually ARE a streaming platform (for subscribers to store and listen to their music from the cloud whenever desired, and (c) now claim they have g…This looks like it will be quite interesting... Release date is June 29 on Blue Note (so won't be available on eMusic or Bandcamp). And while on the subject of delayed releases that you will likely miss if just looking for new releases by date, eMusic just made available a bevy of jazz releases from Unit Records from the months of March, April and May, most of which pre-date som…Don't let this one slip under the radar. It was formally released about a month ago on OA2, but only showed up today on eMusic. As such, you likely won't see it if sorting by "New This Week", etc. It's a…Well, this can't compete with 13 discs of Jansons for $6.99, but here's a rousing new Bud Powell tribute album for $0.99: ( in Bargains on the new eMusic Comment by soulcoal May 2018By the way, though the release date is listed as next week, the Jon Irabagon/Dr. Quixotic's Traveling Exotics album I mentioned above is already available as digital download on Bandcamp.

@jonahpwll, they offer one $5 album each week and have been doing so for a few months now (I get the auto-emails via Bandcamp). Definitely a nice way to stay engaged, and a n…I wrote in a lot more detail about this on the eMusic subreddit, so I won't repeat it all here. But my net takeaway is that they have a lot more work to do to position this in a way that can really succeed. Most of what they announced this week b…There is a comment from Matt @ eMusic on the reddit thread claiming that was an inadvertent change during some testing last night, and that it will be corrected.
Really enjoying this new one from Sara Serpa (vocals) with Ingrid Laubrock (sax) and Erik Friedlander (cello). Just released on Clean Feed last week and showed up in last day or two on eMusic. Should have some crossover appeal for bot…I still think they need to change their new "Album Does Not Exist" icon to be an EMPTY album sleeve. I see the picture and keep getting my hopes up that the album *does* exist. ;-)
Glad to see "We Out Here" show up on it's release date on eMusic, @Doofy, and grabbed it this morning. Also happy to see the French "jazz and beyond" label Pince-Oreille suddenl…While looking on eMu for the new Matthew Shipp releases on ESP-Disk' (not there yet), I stumbled across this $0.99 bargain (for entire album) from last May:

You know, your typical run-of-the-mill jazz trio instrumentation... ;-)In addition to fixing their revenue model (whether by any number of means discussed herein or otherwise), I think there are two other big issues they have the opportunity to address, both of which could add new value for artists and labels:
Some Danish jazz to go with the danish on a Sat morning...
Another good one on Jaeger Community Music. This seems to be a true "new release" for Ornithopter (eMusic had a self-titled release appear about a month ago, but I'm not su…(Quote) This is one of those curious cases of odd pricing. It's a single 24 minute track "album" priced for $10 on Bandcamp, $8.99 on Amazon, $6.99 on eMusic/US, and $0.49 on eMusic/Europe.
I would argue that $10 or $8.99 is too…My guess starts with the obvious, which is that they can't survive solely on grandfathered plans and booster sales, all of which lead to album prices in the $3-4 dollar range. At that price point, they either get crushed on margins, or the labels …
