I really wanted to like it. The first single had promise. But after, what, 4 great pop album he was due for a dud.

P4k's write-up of "Round and Round" really summarizes why I just can't get into them and those "hazy, half-remembered yada yada" bands frustrate the hell out of me. That chorus is so magnificent, just so absolutely perfect, that I spend the rest of …

I saw Donovan a few years back. Brilliant fucking show. Actually videotaped it from a hidden position in the balcony. Gotta dig that out and check the quality - maybe post it if people are interested.

Really thought he was being sarcastic or ironic at first, then I realized he really was trying to use that as an argument. Maybe he works for EMI and is still in denial?

Wow, you never listened to that one? I'm shocked, because it's the first one I knew about (they kept playing a couple tracks on KEXP and I was waiting and waiting for it to hit eMu).

I'm such an album person that putting together lists of songs is baffling to me. But playlists based on what I have of other people's top song lists sounds like a good idea.

Damn, makes me wish I was more into classical music. Looks like the kind of site I would happily get behind.

Bonus points for using the word "monies". It's important that we keep that alive.

I've been tempted by that Aloe Blacc release. To be fair, I think it's very recent and hasn't had a lot of press if you don't follow Stones Throw.

Same here. New channel, no credits, first time I've checked in awhile.

The only reason I never tried Magnatune in the past was some confusion over whether or not you could really d/l anything/everything for 15 bucks. Then I forgot about it.
Seems like it might be a good time to check it out soon since I won… -
@Daniel - You should check out the rest of that site. They get a ridiculous amount of well known and unknown bands coming through there. The funny thing was that session was tweet…

Since I whiffed on Beggars, I'm thinking that maybe I'll just pick up the London Singles comp. It's only $6.99 over there. Thinking that might complement my copies of Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile. Any thoughts on how that one stacks up?I asked my wife. She's quite a Beatles fan, largely through her father. Being a little older than me, she actually remember being aware of what was going on and seeing the news reports on TV, etc.
Like some of you, it's a little strange …I thought that's what you might have meant, which is why I tossed out the "coporate standpoint" bit. Of course that makes it sound even more lame...

in What are you listening to now? (part 2) Comment by thomnottom December 2010I had plenty of time to get some Stones, so I shouldn't complain, but it's a little annoying that Beggars Banquet went up to 5 bucks while most of the rest stayed at 3. I have it on vinyl, so it's not a big deal. But why?
