Also, staff picks from Insound.

I'll have to try going through Spin's again. It was way too slow earlier.

After a run of disappointing deals, this may be 2 in a row for me.

I wanted to like Weeds. I really did. But after 3 seasons I realized that I hated every single character on the show (no matter how hot Miss Parker is) and hoped they would all die. But the theme song sure is great.

I'm doing it for myself, obviously, but I'm also growing more concerned with the idea of making sure that my wife has ready access to everything in case... you know. This is a bigger deal when it comes to pictures and whatnot, but I also want it eas…

From my understanding, ECM in Europe is distributed directly via ECM. Technically speaking they couldn't use those files in the US because they have to come from UMG here. Yes, these international deals are ridiculous.

I miss having the "monthly fix" ever since I cancelled my annual sub. As much as I may trash eMu, if you still get a good deal there's no reason not to use them other than trust. And that's why I would not suggest an annual membership at all. Look a…

I think there are more annual members complaining than you might think. A number of the other complainees have cancelled and been given free months, discounts, etc. People are going to continue to complain until they are completely done with the ser…

My main concern with mTracks (aside from some suspect encoding) is that there wasn't much in the form of new releases from a number of labels there. Plus, clicking around showed at least one of their top 20 albums is already gone.

The reality is, it's taken that much vitriol to finally get eMu to communicate with it's customers more regularly again. During all of the crap that went on with Sony we got a few "We'll look into it" responses and then - BAM! - the change happened …

I've got over 70 from that list. Hip-Hip always does me in - don't own much because it tends to have limited replay value for me.

I was somewhat incorrect in my report. I got 3 albums there in October. The 2 more recent albums (Hauschka's Ferndorf and Nina Nastasia's Outlaster) were both VBR V2 which is ~190 kbps. The other (Roy Montgomery's Temple IV) was 192kbps CBR.

Obviously I don't know the specifics of how it works or how well they are doing, but Bandcamp seems to work well letting users decide their format. They assume you want VBR0 mp3s, but let you choose when it comes up.

That part really sucks - The Lime has a lot of excellent jazz labels plus a decent indie selection. Mtracks is somewhat lacking in both areas, plus I'm not thrilled with their encoding (not a fan of CBR below 256kbps).

Since they're still on sale at the moment, I'm trying to decide between the US and UK versions. Considering I own Hot Rocks, would I be better off getting the UK versions? (I already have Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile)

Not completely surprising, but I'm still disappointed. I was pretty set on the idea of signing up again in January for a regular subscription. Now I notice that their tweets stopped about a week ago. Kind of strange to see it dry up so quickly.

Damn. Where have all the good music services gone?

What do you mean? He's actually happy about not being able to download anything so that his money lasts longer. It's a feature, not a bug!
