Evan Marc = Bluetech = Invisible Allies

edited December 2010 in Electronic
(First post here. Posted this on the (more stressful) emusic discussion board also. Curious to see whether there are responses at either, and whether this is a better place to post such things.)

For anyone else who likes Evan Marc's work under that name or as Bluetech, emusic just got a new album by him under another alias, Invisible Allies, but does not have it linked to his other work in any way. You can stream it on bandcamp here - on first listen I like the original tracks better than the remixes, but it all sounds well worth a listen.

Dreamtime Submersibles and Sines and Singularities are two of my favorite electronic albums downloaded this year.

If anyone can suggest other albums that resemble Evan's work, I'd be glad of any tips.

    Hey, welcome aboard.
I'm just now discovering a lot of electronica, especially at the ambient end of the spectrum, but not a lot to suggest right now. Dot Tape Dot might be the closest thing to above that I could suggest. I think I've got a thread here for that guy. Lemme look.

    Yep. Here...

Also, he has a few things on Bandcamp, too.
  • Thanks - I'll check it out. The samples sound pretty varied (and nice) - a few remind me a bit of another recent discovery - FilFla (Frame is worth a listen in this vein). The Dot Tape Dot name sounded familiar, then I realized I'd seen it on the Favourite Places collection, which I enjoyed on the whole.

I've been downloading various kinds of ambient with abandon for the last year or so (I tend to kind of pig out on a genre at a time until I feel I've really got to know it). Lately I've been leaning back to some more rhythmic things, though there's still plenty of ambient on those bottomless saved lists.

I found out the 'Invisible Allies' album is a collaboration between Bluetech and Kilowatt - the latter I didn't know, but there are a number of albums on emusic that also sound maybe worth a listen.
  • Greetings Germanprof

Thanks for post. I don't know much about electronic ambient chill but this sounds interesting.

I know one of the regulars was a big fan of this music, I think maybe Daniel Esq.

Anyway, welcome and I hope you post more about the music you love. I enjoy finding new things to enjoy.

    Hey Gp, and welcome . . .

    - Streaming the Hyperdimensional Animals album right now, Sounds really great.

I've also viewed your DLH and it seems that we have a lot in common, at least when it comes to the more "noise free" part of electronic music.

I'll recommend the 2010 album from a Danish trio called System AKA Future 3 (Thomas Knak, Anders Remmer & Jesper Skaaning):

Another one that with no doubt will make it to my top 10 albums of the year is:
    300x300.jpg
Philip Jeck - An Ark For The Listener
    - Released by the amazing Touch label.

    - There's reviews and stuff about these two albums @ the New & Notable releases thread.

    - And I'm pretty shure that you'll find the Resting Bell Netlabel interesting, especially Slow.
  • a few remind me a bit of another recent discovery - FilFla (Frame is worth a listen in this vein).

Wow, that is right up my alley. Thanks!
  • Wow, thanks all! Let me see now, went to the emusic boards and caught up on half a dozen people finding inventive ways to insult each other; then came here and got some friendly replies and great suggestions. Think I'll stay :-).
@Brighternow - many thanks, the samples for both sound very appealing. Both added to the "refresh, won't you, refresh already" pile for when download day comes around. And yes, I'm seeing a lot of familiar names in your DLH. Will have to explore further, and look forward to swapping more suggestions.
@jonahpwll - Great! A few weeks ago I sat in Seoul airport, in this large greenhouse-enclosed bamboo and cactus garden that they have there (it's a very beautiful airport), eating lunch and listening to the FilFla album. I know the artist is Japanese, not Korean, but it was one of those moments when the music just perfectly fit the moment and the environment, and so left a lasting impression.
@jackedUPjazz and thanks also, just for the welcome.
  • Welcome Germanprof. I've been here now about a month - much, much better than the Message Board at the other place. Whilst I still read that, I've now stopped posting there on any regular basis. I suspect you will too eventually
  • Let me throw in a welcome too. I'm glad emusers exists and we're happy to have other people to talk about all things music.
