Is it just me......

or do others feel like they have a shitload more time now that they are not on Amie Street or eMu?

I feel like my free time has doubled or tripled!

  • I know I was never quite into Amie as some, but there was a time where I checked the new uploads a few times a day. I'm still on eMu for now, but spend much less time on it looking up new artists and albums to SFL. So a long winded yes.
  • I felt it more after the Amie collapse. With emu gone now, it hasn't stopped me from checking out new release jazz, so my time is spent the same way. With Amie, I was buying music I rarely listened to previously and trying to get it at a price that I could take chances on as recklessly as I could want.
  • Fortunately that time is now spent listening to music. But that doesn't stop the pain every time someone mentions dear sweet Amie. I can't get over just how much I miss that place.
  • More time, yes. More fun, no. The volume of crud to plow through at eMusic makes me just browse less and less.

The demise of Amie certainly created free time and helped me out of compulsive refreshing of the new arrivals page. That free time has, however, been reabsorbed into this site.

Same here. But with some complex reactions. I remember one day in quick succession feeling elated that I had landed the new loscil album for a dollar and change and then guilty because I had only paid one of my favorite artists a dollar and change for his new album.
  • It appears eMu is offering me another free month, so it seems like I've hardly been away.

What is the succession of quit and rejoins that you've been through so far?

Me, I quit (a 16 buck plan), then was offered a free month, then quit again, and now am offered half of a first month of basic (6 bucks gets me 12).
  • Quit in November and was offered a free month to not do so. Took the free month and quit in December.

In January was offered a free month. Took it and quit.

    Now offered another free month.

  • What plan were you on? A biggie? Or maybe it has to do with your original join date.

I need to devise a strategy. The one I'm currently holding on is that the 1/2-off offer is valid until March 5th. I'll wait until them for them to email me a better offer, and then I'll decide what I'll do.
  • I am still on eMu, but I never went there on Tuesday to feverishly look over the new releases. Amie made Tuesdays frantic, and possibly wore out my F5 key.

A Guvera credit-drop day is alot of work, since I look for a Jazz album on eMu with one or two long tracks, then get those on Guvera, the 49 cent tracks on eMu. I have exhausted my sfl list of these sorts of albums.
  • Just a $20 a month plan. Not sure what it is, really.

  • I never got any free offers when I quit my subscription. My theory is that because I had crack-card credits loaded in the account for about the next 6 months, the "please come back" offer cycle didn't trigger. I'm tempted to activate the account again for 1 month and quit, just to see if I can trigger a cafreema-style quit-free cycle. Seriously though, this does change my thinking. I'd figured if I wanted something I'd just get a crack card, but activating the subscription again seems to be a better strategy.
