I picked up Colin Stetson's New History Warfare vol. 2: Judges, based on the above linked tmt list and it's absolutely brilliant. Rec'd to all but brigternow, kargatron, Jonah and maybe Craig are required to at least check out the samples. Then I need pitchfork to come up with a name for this micromini genre that is currently unnamed I think.
I listened to some youtube videos from the album at work. I'm gonna have to spend more time with that music. I suspect, unfortunately, that it's the kind of album that can only be fully appreciated when listened to as a complete album.
Maybe I can see if my library can do something about that.
amclark2, the Stetson is in my Rdio queue, following the np: Tomas Phillips/Mariko Hara's Prosa.
ETA: Wow, yes, Judges does kick ass. I loves me some solo sax, but never heard solo sax as (post-) rock music. Great record, thanks amclark2 for the push. I thought I remembered sampling vol 1, but don't recall it sounding like this.
My esteem for Warfare Judges is growing rapidly. I sent Colin an email asking if he'd like to participate in the AAJ dotd. I am, also, arranging to purchase that album. Great rec, absolutely brilliant.
Cheers.
